  1. pixelpages - Anyway of find Iraqi solid 555555 and 888888 serial number for my collection ? Thanks
  2. In fact, I got an initial details of the auction items before the catalogue was printed. The lady at Spink was nice enough to send it to me in soft copy. It contained 212 lots. She said the catalogue was not ready until two weeks time. She promised to send me one. Overseas customers will take a much longer time to receive it. Is this the first time that Spink auction out these fancy numbers banknotes ? I don't remember seeing any fancy number banknotes being auction out in the past.
  3. Are these estimates accurately reflect the market prices ?
  4. I should be receiving my Spink catalogue soon.
  5. That's a beautiful note especially the reverse.
  6. That's a beautifully designed note.
  7. wow...so many notes. You can start an online banknote shop selling them.
  8. Great to see that you are still hot in collecting these interesting chop marks. One interesting question I have. What happen if we use these ink chop to chop them on polymer banknotes. I believe the ink will run. They will need to use a permanent ink for chopping them on the polymer notes.
  9. Dave - Any possibilities of acquiring a solid 555555 from your contacts working in RBS.
  10. Very encouraging start of your banknote collection. They are beautiful.

  12. The guy on the 10,000 think that someone is talking behind his back. He can feel it.

  17. I really like the story about this Portugal note although it is a bit confusing when I first read it. I will put this into my website under the article with both the article and the link to the orginal article. Is there any other good story relating to banknotes ?
  18. Dave - Nice bit of information on the Mexican notes. I do learn something from Aidan and you from here. If only it is a 555555 and 888888 available for my collection, I will go further into understanding them.
  19. That's true. An advice for those who want to collect Singapore Bird and Ship Series to stop before 10,000 SGD. 1,000 SGD will be just right. Since 10,000 SGD were produced very much lesser than other denomination, it is unfortunate that in both series, they do not have a 555555. Bird Series only have one solid number A/1 111111 while the Ship series up to AA 222222. In the case of Portrait Series, it is up to OAA 444444. There is no OAA 555555. Just for your information, I have seen both the AA 222222 and A/1 111111 in real note. A few month back, AA222222 appeared and I have a chance to purchase it. The price tag is $40,000 SGD. More than 10 years ago, when it appear, it was at $20,000 SGD. 18 years ago, A/1 111111 was sold by my dealer friend at only $11,000 SGD. With it's current highest face value, solid numbers $10,000 SGD also does not come cheap. It is not for everyday collectors but for professional and specialized collectors / investors. At this moment, I am just happy with $1000 SGD solid numbers.
  20. It's nice to know that the note that you like best was from my country, Singapore. The most beautiful ones are from the Bird and Ship Series. The current Portrait Series banknotes are ugly. If you notice in these two series, there are many meaningful things on the notes. The Changi airport features on the ship $100 denote that it is voted the best airport in the world for many years. The ship series remind us of that Singapore is the busiest port in the world as well as it's strategic location in the world from the times of Straits Settlements right up today. It was then a free port and a crown jewel of the British Empire. The bird series are just as nice featuring local birds seen in Singapore. Collect all of them in both ship and bird series.
  21. If it is a 8 7s ( 7777777 ), a jackpot lucky 7, it will worth a lot of money.
  22. Thank you for the invaluable explanation. I really appreciate your help. Thanks
