  1. I'm going to guess machine wrapped, from corporate depositors?
  2. Thanks for the explanation and examples! I have to say that in my experience with older coins, I usually encounter square nail holes more often than round nails through the mid-1800s, at which point round nails seem to predominate.
  3. Neat! Was the hole as issued, or was it added by someone at the time to attach a ribbon to?
  4. Nice note, and neat lion - it kind of reminds me of the ones used on Ethiopian coinage.
  5. 2005 Canada veteran's commem 25c. Not an unusual find, except that I got it in the US!
  6. bicent quarter, VG-Fish. First that I've received in change!! (Though I've spent hundreds myself...)
  7. Really? I think I saw a 1/2k at a show around here recently. Low grade-ish, but if you're interested, I'll keep an eye out for it next time if it's still around.
  8. I kind of like the small reverse lettering on the $5.
  9. SA - that is one heck of a piece, and great story too! I thought that they just folded up / ceased their Canadian ops.
  10. The only two Canadian solids I've seen in person were both circulated '54 series, so I think that they did go off into circulation and were plucked out futher down the line at retail banks, or by collectors - and that a put together set, yes, is truly miraculous.
  11. The 2001 (yes, rather outmoded) Charlton lists the following suggested values for solid serial number 54 series: $1... 400 $2... 450 $5... 500 $10... 550 $20... 600 $50... 700 $100... 800
  12. Neat report - looking forward to seeing that token!
  13. It's nice that you got the 1980 ones and not the later 1990 re-issue; the back of the 1990 isn't nearly as nice even though it's the same design.
  14. 2010D shield cent. First of those I've seen.
  15. The closest things I've come across is stuff for Coca Cola and Barbie, but those were in silver, so it's a lot easier for a collector to pay $50-100 for something like that. (and thus a premium over melt/scrap) But even with a more recognized name (e.g. Coca Cola), I think the the premium would likely be marginal.
  16. Did you mean AV (gold) instead of AR (silver)? Anyways, if it's 1 oz of gold, I highly doubt that any soft drink memorabilia collector would value it more highly than its gold scrap value. Probably a pretty scarce prize from the looks of it.
  17. NZ shilling's one of my commonwealth favourites
