  1. The coin that is cute, and in amazing condition for it's age.
  2. Those early 1960's stars are difficult to find on the wet printed notes - nice find.
  3. Interesting, there is one yak on the front and two on the back. At least the two on the back still may rule their range, canna say the same for the yak on the front.
  4. Here is my latest, a proposed $2 Peso note from Banco de Mexico ca. 1918, this was printed by a Mexican security printing company in the hopes of securing a contract which in fact went to American Banknote Company instead: A very lovely Latina with an Aztec calendar in the background Libertad or Winged Victory in Mexico City
  5. I wished I had found some of those when I was in China, but I did find sheets of some of the earlier notes.
  6. One abandoned and seemingly very lonely Canadian 10 cent coin.
  7. Best find in a few months today again after a long drought: 3 Canadian 25 cent coins 4 US dimes 1 Canadian 5 cent coin 8 Zincolns 1 1964 cent.
  8. Ah See323, starting to venture into my own venue of collecting aye? That series of currency from ca. 1980 is one of my favourite overall series of currencies from anywhere.
  9. Skipping a year... This half merk represents an issue that was in the earlier debased billon issues that were issued during the 16th century. This coin was issued in 1572 and was worth 6 Shillings, 8 Pence Scots. It was the rough equivalent of 6 1/2 English Pence.
  10. I have voted for all three one time or another - kind of gets to where you have a hard time voting when you pit faves against one another. Wait until your own coin comes up against another of yours, then it is like picking a favourite child.
  11. Nice note from Oz, all the more so because it actually appears to have seen some light circulation meaning it was not saved from the get go, but was saved early on in it's history.
  12. Here is a picture of Liang Jun from her 79th birthday:
  13. Now that is what makes these notes so interesting This is actually a note I have been looking for an example of for a bit of time, they are usually too pricey.
  14. Catching up on purchases that have filtered in over the past three weeks: ] ]
  15. Banco International de Costa Rica, 2 Pesos ca. 1923 unissued remainder.
  16. Now I know who the ####### is who bought that before I could get my grubby paws on it... You are acquiring discerning tastes in coinage and medals, congratulations.
  17. It was just released late last year, I believe it is a part of a new series. I noticed the indigenous language on the reverse only when I imaged it, and it didn't say dos mil guaranies like I would have expected it to.
  18. Adela and Celsa Speratti were sisters and 19th century educators who were instrumental in the creation of the Escuela Normal de Profesoras del Paraguay which was one of the first higher learning institutions founded in Paraguay. Adela was the first director of the institution and remained so until her unexpected demise in 1902. Both sisters were prominent in the promotion of education for women in Paraguay, something that prior to their creating the Escuela Normal de Profesoras del Paraguay. This lovely note was printed by François Charles Oberthur Technologies of Paris, France on polymer substrate and has a number of significant measures to prevent forgery.
  19. A zincoln, a Canadian 10c dated 1977, a Namco game token, and a Chuckie Cheese token - first finds in a few weeks.
  20. I have gotten two of them in the last 15 or so years, a 1988-S quarter and a 1981-S cent that obviously had been liberated by some kids from proof sets.
  21. Yesterday I was buying a soda for my son, I handed the clerk a fiver and got back some change and heard an unfamiliar "clink" from the coins she was handing me, figuring to myself "oh great, another Canadian quarter" but then I looked at it on the way out of the store and there was George's profile on a 1963 quarter, yeppers $3 worth of silver quarter in my change.
  22. A bear, a bull or a god, choices choices choices.
