  1. Oh no, earlier yet, ie private banking era.
  2. Nice Rhodesian note - coincidentally I hope to get a very early Rhodesian pound note soon.
  3. Nice note and SN# See323. Lot of dosh in one bill too, I wonder why there in Singapore and in Brunei there is a need for such large denomination notes, even $10K notes at least in Brunei?
  4. I had to "quote" JT's post and cut and paste the URL of the image to be able to see it, and then afterwards it appeared just fine. But the host where he is posting from seems to have some block on viewing the image from other sites.
  5. Usually when they are better than VF they have specimen punch holes in them. So far I am not having a lot of luck finding the 500 Franc note from ca. 1939. This is a lovely note and a great addition to your collection.
  6. The note is otherwise known as the beast
  7. Ah, See323 is getting bitten by the French bug
  8. The French locomotives of that era with their smoke lifters etc were some of the most attractive locos around. With the Mallet compounding they were also some of the most efficient in terms of energy being used - they effectively used the steam twice over as opposed to just once.
  9. Curiously Monnaie de Paris still has a medal with the same obverse but different reverse in their catalogue that commemorates Science and Industry - I know because I bought one in their boutique at Quai de Conti a few years ago and it is sitting in my china cabinet.
  10. My guess on the Chinese note is that it is late 19th century or very early 20th century. I like it because unlike so much of what came from China during that time it is really Chinese and not something printed by and or for a western bank operating in China.
  11. Nice HK notes See323, I really like the HK series of banknotes.
  12. The other day I found about 10 or so pre-1982 cents, and a couple of YH Canadians waiting for me.
  13. Nice Singaporean notes, Monetary Agency is new issuing authority?
  14. They were printed in small numbers as noted above, held in the Treasury for years and then released into circulation mostly in Puerto Rico in the 1940's. Most people in the continental USA would have never seen them.
  15. I like the red seal - nice note and so so rare and pricey. I would like to get one myself, along with the 1917 and 1923 LT's.
  16. Nice pick up on the Ukrainian note, curiously they value the karbovnets on that at the same rate the old imperial ruble was in gold.
  17. More rares, two USA and a Swiss - pics later.
  18. From an old programme on the TV - "Different Strokes"
  19. Shamelessly lifted from that previously mentioned Scottishmoney website.
  20. One city that I really really want a coin from is from Tyras in Thrace. Coins were issued there from the Greek era in the 4th century BC until the 3rd century in the Roman era. I have seen them in a museum in Odessa, but aside from that I have never seen one for sale.
  21. I like looking at them, and I have some decent Syracusan coins, an Athenian Tet, etc. but for the most part I really haven't been doing much with them lately and cannot remember when my last ancient purchase was but it has been a few years. Now I am back on track with the Scottish.
