  1. Not fast enough. At least it seems like. Been saving money and have not really picked up a morgan I needed for awhile. Except the 1889 O. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up the next missing one soon. Waiting on a couple more safety incentive gift cards from work. Hopefully they may make it in this week.
  2. A duplicate year/mint morgan. One of those right price deals. 1896 And an addition to my Texas store tokens. No real firm date. But it had to be after he got the town renamed. WALBURG, TEXAS. Store token Henry Doering moved to the area in 1881 and opened a general store the following year. In 1886 he added a post office and renamed the settlement after his hometown of Walburg, Germany. Color off actual color silver. Made of aluminum.
  3. Okay wheres the jaw dropping smilie. Thats gorgeous.
  4. I hope we can. Being the optimist I even picked up a 1569 and 1584 to help the cause along when we get there.
  5. Just a little bit early on the post. Still need 1508 and down.
  6. ;) 400 years back in time. Yep to the post somewhere else and link.
  7. Going over ebay spotted some of the dated coins may only have the last 2 numbers. I guess that should still count unless we are sticklers it is still dated. You know once we make the 1609 point that will be 400 years of coins. Took us 2 years but a wild accomplishment.
  8. Just spotted a dated 1510 polish 1/2 Grosz on the bay.
  9. But which calender? The coin I posted a link to is dated just a different way of tracking the date. For those who haven't looked back thru the entire post for awhile I suggest doing it. I just did and it was neat. (BTW we thought we were getting stuck big time during the 1700's. Now we are almost to the 1500's. )
  10. I'm not sure about first but you can find early Egyptian coins like this. Which evidently is marked year 2 and works out to 235/236 ad. Really from what I have seen we are getting closer to year territory where fewer coins have dates. The 1500's may be slow but probably doable. The 1400's ???
  11. That one is kind of tough getting in a decent grade. I am going to continue slowly picking up business strikes and maybe one day have a complete set.
  12. One more Morgan year/mint I was missing. 1889 O Have not done much checking on vam, but looks like a normal vam 1. Does have a die clash by left wing and a small one above the right wing. But I don't see any other transfers. Edit VAM 10 wide date Edit again VAM 11 this time for real.
  13. Nah, mostly a low cost whim right now. But I have been looking more at the 1700 European and earlier stuff. Even picked up a krause 1601 to 1700 catalog.
  14. 3 new coins from Hungary. First the 1611 I was expecting. 1 DENAR coin 1611 King Matthias II Madonna and child with rays Then a couple so I don't sit out the dated coins thread completely. 1 DENAR coin 1584 King Rudolf II Madonna and child 1 DENAR 1569 King Maximilian II Madonna and child
  15. Stopped by the bank and they had a couple rolls of halves found one 1964, 1966, 1967, and 1968. Not bad about $10 worth of silver.
  16. 1876 5 francs Paris mint, bee and anchor privy marks. Paris mint denoted by the A the privy marks bee is for Director Renouard deBussiere 1860 thru 1879 and anchor is for the engraver general Albert-Desire Barre 1855 to 1878 Not quite as dark in hand as pictures seem. (Hey, Deadpoint heres the one I was talking about. Almost the same coin just 100 years older.)
  17. You know how I am keeping things close to the vest.
  18. Hey deadpoint wait till you see one of the other ebay pick ups on the way. You will like it.
  19. Thanks. I'll have to put that in the omnicoin description.
  20. Nope, did go ahead and just to help out paid $1.50 each for some au Ikes you can get from the bank to help out. He bought them for $4.00. I was hoping he had something, got some spare cash and would not have minded parting with to help him. At least this time he did sit down with me and maybe he will learn to think some before buying coins. Forgot I had this laying around for a few weeks. (Nope, not one of his Ikes. ) 1971 S silver pcgs ms65. Picked up on ebay less then bulk submission price on grading.
  21. Don't have a translation on the words other then a few parts you can make out. But here is the info. Matthias (February 24, 1557 - March 20, 1619) of the House of Habsburg, Holy Roman Emperor (1612-1619), King of Hungary (1608-1619) (as Matthias II), King of Bohemia (1611-1617). Matthias was born in the Austrian capital of Vienna to Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor and Maria of Spain.Matthias married Archduchess Anna of Austria, daughter of his uncle Archduke Ferdinand II of Austria, whose successor in Further Austria Matthias became in 1595. Their marriage did not produce surviving children. In 1593 he was appointed governor of Austria by his brother, Emperor Rudolf II. He formed a close association there with the Bishop of Vienna, Melchior Klesl, who later became his chief adviser. In 1605 Matthias forced the ailing emperor to allow him to deal with the Hungarian Protestant rebels. The result was the Peace of Vienna of 1606, which guaranteed religious freedom in Hungary. In the same year Matthias was recognized as head of the House of Habsburg and as the future Holy Roman Emperor, as a result of Rudolf's illness. Allying himself with the estates of Hungary, Austria, and Moravia, Matthias forced his brother to yield rule of these lands to him in 1608; Rudolf later ceded Bohemia in 1611. After Matthias's accession as Holy Roman Emperor, his policy was dominated by Klesl, who hoped to bring about a compromise between Catholic and Protestant states within the Holy Roman Empire in order to strengthen it. Matthias had already been forced to grant religious concessions to Protestants in Austria and Moravia, as well as in Hungary, when he had allied with them against Rudolf. His conciliatory policies were opposed by the more intransigent Catholic Habsburgs, particularly Matthias's brother Archduke Maximilian, who hoped to secure the succession for the inflexible Catholic Archduke Ferdinand (later Emperor Ferdinand II). The start of the Bohemian Protestant revolt in 1618 provoked Maximilian to imprison Klesl and revise his policies. Matthias, old and ailing, was unable to prevent a takeover by Maximilian's faction. Ferdinand, who had already been crowned King of Bohemia (1617) and of Hungary (1618), succeeded Matthias as Holy Roman Emperor. Matthias died in Vienna. BTW getting a acetone soak when it makes it here. Picked up a couple more years. A king Maximilian II and king Rudolf II for later. The ones from Hungary are pretty cheap. Thought originally about getting more. Maybe later if we get stuck.
  22. What the hey. Start this thread moving again. If it doesn't come in I'll pick up one and edit this post.
  23. Group of coins, just not sure if I'm going to take pictures of any of them. Probably just a group shot of the silver since this thread is worthless without pictures. Friend of my sons always hitting the flea markets and buying coins. Only problem is he has no idea what he should pay. He's brought them in at different times and showed them to me. 99 % of the time he has paid way over what he should. I keep telling him at least get a red book. The prices may be off but at least he may have an idea what to spend. Anyways he lost his job and needed money. Went on ebay showed him prices and made a deal. Most of the silver stuff common years and low grade And I really don't need another couple rolls of wheat pennies. (May be a give away sometime.)
  24. Ones on the way. Just it may take some time. Could post sellers pictures if impatient.
