Overhaul of the coinage,ie 20 cent pc., is never going to happen. It would cost 100s of millions of dollars to change millions of vending machines to take on the changes. Vending machines use magnets to weed out slugs and foreign coins so anything magnetic is out. The best solution would be eliminate the cent and go to a zinc core Nickel.
I would also eliminate the dollar bill.

In the late 70s I paid a bit over $1000 for 3 Gold Kregerands. Sold them off over a 6-7 year period. Wish I still had them but I did make a profit.

Got a 2009 D Log Cabin cent in BU yesterday. First I've seen in any condition.
My son brought me two BU Mt. Hood quarters from NYC. I've only found a few territory and Park quarters here.

When I tumble my detecting finds they get that sand blast look. The bubbles could be envirnmental damage?

Found a 2009 Canadian quarter. Commerative of the 2002 gold medal win for Olympic hockey.

Grabbed a handful of coins from the reject bin at a grocery store in Niagara Falls. 12 cents Canadian and $1.37 in US change. Only keeper was a 1941 Wheatie.

Got a silver dime in the basket today,1951. Grandson got down on the floor and dug out a 1919 cent and a US nickel.

Not in circulation but I dug a 1911 cent the other day. Not too often do I get 100 year old coins.
