  1. That was fast. Thank you ElleKitty for keeping with the Netherlands theme. Here is a 1743 Netherlands ducat, I own several of these but only two in MS condition... And my nicest Swiss Quarter Ducat, surely better than ANACS rates it...
  2. I like those new Scottish notes. My son may be going to the University Of Edinburgh next year, if he does I'll have a "direct connection" to Scottish coins and notes. And he'll probably have the time of his life! Here's a lucky number from the United States:

Thanks Frank. I found a Swiss coin dealer recently with a pretty amazing inventory, most of his really nice stuff is out of my price range, but this one wasn't.
  4. Very nice Dutch silver two stuiver Marianne... I have one almost exactly like it from 1727. Marching right along, here is a nice 1745 Swiss 1/2 Taler and my favorite "officially cleaned" coin. I'll be back at 1743 with two coins that definitely belong together.
  5. A well struck Polupoltinnik in amazing condition too. I'll scan my 1745 Swiss Half Thaler (Zurich) in anticipation of someone producing a 1746. After that I want to pre-register for 1743, as I have two coins from that date that I am very proud of. If you have ever looked at one of your coins and thought "How it is possible that I was able to find something so rare and beautiful as this?", well that applies to both my 1743's...
  6. Beautiful coin, and as soon as we get to 1745, there will be more Netherlands. There is no escape!
  7. A very impressive collection of banknotes, the $5 being my favorite.
  8. Over 4000 forum members, and no one has a 1749?
  9. Thank you... I've nothing until 1745, but then can offer two beauties with that date, then two even nicer from 1743, then 1742, 1739, 1727, 1723, 1712, 1707, 1692, 1678 and a 1666 that is one of the highlights of my collection.

    Swiss Cantons

(Technically not a Canton Basel but a Bishopric Basel...) Received this today and I couldn't be happier... It's a quarter taler, the first one I have ever seen, and in incredible condition.
  11. And for the hat trick, a beautiful 1750 14G Dutch Gold Rider minted in red gold. You really see the difference when placed next to a "normal" yellow gold rider. One of my top 10 coins...
  12. And the 1751 Netherlands 10 Stuiver from Holland...
  13. No, I have had that for a few years. Here's the 1752 Liege...
  14. As promised: The others are in the bank, so if anyone has a nice 1752 please be my guest.
  15. I'll post a 1753 Swiss gold 1/4 ducat tomorrow. And a 1752 14 Liard from Liege (Belgium) if I can find it. After that I can offer a 1751 Netherlands Silver 10 Stuiver, then a 1750 Netherlands 14 Guilder Gold Rider. Right now I am working to pay for this stuff...
  16. And a 1901 Luzern: A nice big (45mm) piece of Swiss silver, and with 7000 struck, you won't spend a lifetime finding one.
  17. And a 1904 Zurich, Richter #1789a, 27mm with 1000 struck in silver. And a beautiful design from Huguenin. There is also a silver plated brass version of this that I would love to stumble across one day. Best helmet ever...
  18. Another 1910 Bern, toned and in near perfect condition.
  19. Thanks, I fully intend to explore this forum from top to bottom. I REALLY like this place and the people here...

There are two 1910 Bern varieties that I personally know of. The one in my photos is silver and is a RICHTER 172. They used to cost about $50 but recently I had to bid over $75 for one. It was also issued in nickel (RICHTER 263b) and they seem to go for about the same price. I have one that graded NGC MS64 and is VERY nice. Does anyone know how many of these were issued in both types?
  21. Ditto on loving this thread. In fact this is how I found this forum. Here is one of my Swiss Shooting Medals, a 1910 from Bern. I have several others and will post photos or scans as time permits. I own the 1892 Glarus and the 1895 Zurich that Ian posted, about the same quality too, suggesting we both bought from the same excellent Swiss seller from Winterthur.
  22. I have a 1753, a 1752, a 1751 and several 1750's but not even one 1756. I'll keep looking, I may have had a 1756 Dutch gold ducat that I photographed before I sold it. Does that count? If we get to 1739 I have a pretty amazing duit to show off...

1910 Bern Shooting Medal, produced both in silver (pictured) and nickel proof.
  24. Tuition bills from USC. Plus property taxes due... And the new 2008 Redbook! Awaiting a 1740 Swiss 1/4 Taler from Canton Basel in extremely nice condition...
