  1. The notes prior to 1972 were printed by the OCV, in Italy. Th SCWPM doesn't mention the printer after that series, and this series is indeed different in style. Maybe someone with more info on them will be able to chime in soon.
  2. Hey, your riight about it being reminiscent of the Angolan notes. I was thinking that the back was reminding me of the Guinea notes designs of a few years back, but the front is much more like the Angolan notes. I haven't a book t o look in right note, but I'd bet it was done by the same printing company for sure. Nice note btw!
  3. The HSBC note is from 2011. I'm anxiously awaiting the new nots from the BOC. I've seen the Maucau design online, and I like it a lot. Haven't seen the HK design - hope its a different design than the Macau note.
  4. Nice notes, Baxuss! Cool low serial number on that Dominican note, too! I like when that happens. I got in these Hong Kong notes today. I see that I didn't upload my new Tongan notes, nor two recent Djibouti notes on here, but they're on Banknote bank. One of the Tongan notes is a nice radar serial number (if your into that sort of thing - I'm not too much, but it doesn't hurt to have it!).
  5. Nice Notes, MMMM ! I just ordered a few HK Notes as well. Should get them in a couple of days. I didn't spring for that nice 500 though.
  6. I've always liked that note too. Dont know exactly hat it is, but theres Something about that scene that I like.
  7. It's not too hard to find in decent condition. But it will come with larger Dollar $igns$ though.
  8. Next to last for my Hawaii Issues. Still need the $20
  9. Nice notes! We dont' get to see them too often. It's good to see the types of overstamps on them. Is there a reason that some of them have the second square overstamp along with the circular one? Or do the top notes have the square stamps on their reverse? Congrats on getting these - cool notes to have.
  10. Wow - JTryka and Saor Alba are putting the rest of us to shame with such nice notes! Way to go guys!
  11. A stunning note Dave M! I really like those Algerian notes of that era. Congrats!
  12. Well, I finally broke down and bought one of these. Morocco 100 Francs issued in 1943. I love this note, but I was hoping to get it in UNC. This is the best condition I've seen it offered in years, and the price was good, so I bought it. I am not sorry. It is even better than I hoped for in hand.
  13. Wow! A lot of great notes. I haven't seen those particular Italian notes in a long time... and I think that's the first of that Yugoslavian note I've ever seen. Nice round of notes, everyone! Congrats!
  14. THanks jtryka! I'm slowly closing in on my US type set. I've the Hawaii 10 and 20 and the $1 Experimental red R to go. Then I've go to decide where to branch out to.
  15. Nice! I saw an ad for that somewhere - sounds like it's a pretty comprehensive catalog.
  16. Got a few things in yesterday and today. This is my favorite of them - $5 Hawaii FRN.
  17. Nice JIM note there, MMMM. Those Ox carts get around, don't they?
  18. Continuing on with my Ghana set... I'v skipped a the issue just prior to this one, but these were available and tempting. A little intense on the color, but that seems to be the way a lot of designers like them lately. Easy to differentiate I guess. I'd prefer a step back in design with less intensity, and more artistic design. But I've said that before.
  19. That is correct. The same goes in Hong Kong for their banknotes from different banks, Scotland for their different banks, Ireland for theirs, etc. The UK has some different notes issued for places such as Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Mann, Gibraltar, as well as Scotland and Ireland, that all have seperate notes. While these are pegged to the GBP, I've read in forum threads that the notes are not accepted in other locals, except where they are close by, ports, etc. where exchanges are readily made for their local flavor of currency. I believe this is due mainly to the familiarity of notes and fear of fakes floating about from too many different types. Different notes from different banks, or issued in different locales makes for neat collecting though! More expensive, sure, but more fun as well.
  20. Yes. They are similar to Hong Kong and the Hong Kong-Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSCB) and Standard Charter Bank (SCB)issuing notes there. In Macau, there is no governmental banknote issuer, but two commercial banks are granted the authority to do so. They are the Banco Da China (Bank of China) and the Banco Nacional Ultramrino (the Portuguese bank with branches throughout the world and it's old possessions). Being an old Portuguese posession, the notes are printed in Chinese and Portuguese. As in other places, older notes may have been from other issuers besides these two. I have one small denomination note I posted earlier this month issued by the Kee Kwan Motor Road COmpany. That company is still in business providing transport between mainland China and Macau.
  21. Received a nice set of notes From two different banks in Macau.
  22. Looking forward to you posting some notes Art1.2 But first you'll have to suffer through these. I got this set because they are new and I wanted a complete set (I have the Pound denominations already). But I think the colors are bad, the design is too dense and the whole coloring is too muted. But hey, I guess I can't complain until I get my own money printed, can I? South Sudan - New Piaster notes - 5, 10 and 25 Piaster denominations.
  23. Received this new Hansatsu note today. Value is 1 Silver Monme. Issued by the Hansatsu Yanagimoto Han in Yamato no Kuni – Year 1830
  24. Seriously? I am sorry that you took offence at my post.
