  1. haha, my parents went to Cantebury last april and I told them the same thing. They took all 10 pence pieces they came across with them and gave them to me : you figure that out yourself! found one
  2. thanks for pointing out my typo It's a 1968 D alright. Can a weak strike cause one character to be almost missing and the rest to be normally there? I'm not looking for "error/flawed/whatever you want to name it" coins either, but I just noticed this when looking at them through my x10 magnifier. for circ coins I wouldn't call them sub-standard but if I would order proofs from a mint and it would look like that, I'd be disappointed. I expect proofs to be perfect, flawless
  3. The Netherlands : dates and varieties The rest of the world: types, mint marks and varieties
  4. Been to work today, where we have a digital camera and made some pictures which are a lot clearer than the scans I had up yesterday.
  5. Hey, I just wanted to post that..... Thanks Christian Ray: you're on!
  6. hmmmm, I found a really neat site about dutch bank notes and thought I'd add it here. Turns out there is already a thread for them, so I'd add it there. And then I discover Doo already posted the link And yeah, feel free to ask....
  7. Ka-ching !!! You've won!!! Your prize is.... Oh, yeah, there was no prize... I think it's a filled die, there is a very faint "U", but it doesn't show on the scan I need a digicam...
  8. Received two clad Roosies today and when checking them to see if they would be suitable upgrades to the ones in my type set, I noticed some strange things. First, there's one with quite some doubling: large image, 126KB it's a 1982 "P" The doubling can be found in the words"UNITED STATES OF" at the upper side of the characters, and in "ONE" at the lower left edge of the characters. It doesn't show too well when using a scanner, I'll try a digicam at work tomorrow to get better pics. [edit]New picture, made with digital camera[/edit] Second: what's wrong with this one? I'm obviously not referring to the scratches. (contest, no prize ) also large image, 98KB it's a 1968 "D" [edit]New picture, made with digital camera[/edit]
  9. Right ! Well, there is some resemblance.....
  10. hmmmm, I remember I've seen that one before..... I commented that the obverse and reverse were soo diferent in style that it looked like they were from two different coins...
  11. no coin, but a note. In the 1980's the Dutch 5 gulden note was demonitized and a 5 gulden coin was issued instead. I took some crisp UNC notes that I got at the bank and put them in an envelope and placed that on a shelf in my room. It sat there for several years, I can still point out the exact location. Then I moved to a another house. Things went in boxes, boxes went in cars, boxes went out of cars to attick. Boxes were taken off the attick and emptied and the contents were placed in the appropriate places in th new house. But I never found that envelop again
