  1. I second that. In case you're looking for a magnet... there's one in your fridge door, the strip around the edge. Usually there are magnets in cupboards too, to keep the doors closed.
  2. perhaps rust? or it has been in some place that has coloured the rim? If you look at the reverse, at "AMERICA" there's a damage like someone practiced with a chisel.... however, it's not copper colour... so the core of the coin is apparently not copper..
  3. Wow, that's a very nice Walker you have there, RGT. I wasn't critisizing your posting here, RGT, just pointing out another feature, which you might not know yet, since you're just new here.
  4. OK, now I get into trouble determining the height of the bid..... US coins I master, but the notes.... They're all black and white at the front and green and white at the back with some long-dead dude on it..... you know what: I just raise it with a washer (the coin....)
  5. Are you sure that's a proof? in those days "S" mint didn't automatically mean "proof", as far as I know 1968 "S" is listed in my Krause as normal strike, not as proof. Mintage is 103,437,510. That would be an awfull lot of proofs....
  6. RGT, if you attach the images instead of embedding them in your post, it's up to the viewer to download it or not. you get a small thumbnail at the bottom of your post and clicking that will bring up the original image.
  7. you found that in change???????? wow, I'm surprised it made it all the way to Suomi, since you're a bit isolated from the rest of euro countries. When I was in finland I obviously looked very close at the change I received and I couldn't find much foreign euro coins in it. The only ones that were a bit common were german coins, if I remember well. Here in The Netherlands, we're almost at the stage than more than 40% of our change is not dutch..... And that 's even worse for notes, there we already passed the 50% line, according to http://www.eurobilltracker.com/
  8. That Jeff is just a token, but does it somewhere say it's not a legit coin? or is it completely other size than a 5 cents coin? Other wise one could slap it on the counter with the obverse up, hoping nobody would notice.....
  9. now that sounds familiar.... I have one of those at home, for in my cellar. And indeed, the water in the bottom of this thing feels a little bit greasy. These "moisture eaters" (vochtvreters) are quite common here. The original is from "Bison", the barand that also makes lots of different kinds of glue
  10. some nice swedish and finnish coins, as a present
  11. my 10x loupe is a dual lense, no brand. It costed me a few euro in a local store where they measure your eyes and sell glasses and contact lenses. I tested the loupe myself, befoer I bought it. They had two different ones and this one was significanlty better than the other one that only had a single lense. The distortion of a dual lense is less. An even better slution would be a triplet, with 3 lenses, but they didn't have one available. They could order one, but is would be significantly more expensive.
  12. I received, unanounced and to my total surprise, some swedish coins and a finnish coin as a "thank you" present. so now it's my turn: kiitos, Harri!!
  13. Dutch 10 gulden note 1997 on the reverse: IJSVOGEL DOLK OP WIEKEN IN EEN JASJE VAN KOBALT, BUIK ORANJE...MAAR DE OOGWENK ZIET EVEN MAAR EEN BLAUWE VLAM VOOR HOGERE JAGERS ZO BLAUW ALS HET WATER; VOOR WIE DAARONDER HUIS (DE VOORN, DE BLIEK) HET GRAUW ORANJE VAN DOR BLAD TOTDAT DE TWIJG KORT NEERBUIGT, TERUGVEERT, VLEUGELS VINNEN BLIJKEN EN DE DOLK ZICH OM DE SCHUBBEN SCHAART, WAARVAN DE TAK STRAKS GLINSTERT, NA DE SLACHT WANNEER HET WAPEN DROOGGEPOETST, DE SLOKOP ZIT EN SCHOKKEND KLEUR GEEFT AAN DE WINTER ARIE VAN DEN BERG this is a poem about the "ijsvogel " which is found in the water mark of the note
  14. hey, where did that suddenly come from????????
  15. Quite right he won't!! I think it's not greace, I think it's artificial toning and then cleanded, I wouldn't bid on that dud if I were you OK, that gives me some slack on the change.... 3 washers and 5 wheaties
  16. lemme see..... I don't have spare kennedies nor roosies.... let alone Morgains, Peaces, Ikes, SBA's or SAC's or any other of that denomination what if I throw 2 washers and 15 weaties in?, will that stop Bobby from raising my bid? By the way, Bobby, it's NOT!!!! italian, you can let this one pass....
  17. hehe, I guess we don't need to guess that crown.....
