  1. I have been lurking on the forum from time to time but have been busy. Life has been a roller coaster ride for me and I got around to squeezing some time to catalog what I have. Turns out it's a lot more work than I thought. Recently I have been designing coin albums and preserving a selection of coins with Verdicare. The preservation project is well worth it. Digital coin albums... there isn't just enough time to do everything. Probably a sign to downsize. Enough talk and here's a couple of links: http://gxseries.com/numis/preservation/coin_preservation_project.htm http://gxseries.com/numis/numis_index.htm Yes, I know I ought to spend more quality time to redesign my site... I've split the coin preservation selection by countries. I've preserved more than what's shown - it just takes time to resize photos and then document them. Trust me, I've been trying to go faster than what I can. I've nearly used one whole bottle (2oz) and probably have to get a couple more. I didn't expect to go through it THAT fast! The Sadagura preservation and Uighurstan project has been a reasonable success. Many of these coins just don't pop up in the market these days and this is more than a good reason to preserve them. As of what is coming next, I am planning to focus on preserving Korean Empire coinage and then finish the digital coin album - it has been long overdue. I've already started doing some and many of them have come out to be stunning. Some are better than what's offered in the market these days. They will be photographed and then put into the digital coin album. Not something I want to make another duplicate set out, or rather, impossible to do so. Another interesting thing I have noticed is the die rotation of the early copper (5 fun and 1 fun) and nickel copper coins (1/4 yang) - they are just all over the place! What is next would be probably China Manchukuo coinage and then Russian coins and then Japanese...? I can dream on I guess. Anyway enough rambling and enjoy the view! 2. I've been really quiet as there has been a fair amount of stuff going on in life. Meanwhile I have been preserving coins in my collection. First up is the Sadagura coinage. Thankfully I don't have a hoard of them unlike the other collections that I have. One step at a time I guess. Most of the coins that went through the preservation process turned out to be nicer than they were originally. I documented the before and after. Best coin that turned out is the 1771 para - 3 dengi. Really happy with this. The rest of the coins can be seen here. http://gxseries.com/numis/preservation/sadagura/preservation_sadagura.htm Hope you enjoy!
  3. Been looking at some coins just for fun and realized that the values have dropped a fair amount since the last time I saw it. For instance 1970 mint set was sold for 1500USD. Now it has fetched just 800 - 900 dollars. 1996 mint set was sold for 650USD. And now it's around 350USD. Might be the recession that's coming in play. That said, have you bought anything decent this year?
  4. Got this recently as it was cheap. Low grade isn't a problem for me however authenticity is a different matter. Weight is at 2.72g. What are your thoughts on it?
  5. This is my example Will update the photo as this has been recently preserved. Overstruck over Swedish 1748 1 ore.
  6. Igors probably has the best coin of this particular type. 500 - 600 dollars while sounds high - it's not a coin that pops up often. I guess it doesn't hurt to obtain a low grade example if it is a bargain and then upgrade when you find a better example at the right place. My example is as follow: I have recently preserved this coin and it looks a lot better than this.
  7. Yours show the overstruck feature very clearly extent4cell. Speaking of which, I just managed to preserved my coin and it is showing signs that it is a 1757 1 kopek overstruck over 1748 1 ore which I could not identify the year a few years ago. Will get around to taking photos. Some of my other coins are showing signs of verdigris - mainly due to my choice of collecting low grade coins and didn't care much of their original state. Don't get me wrong - some of these coins are extremely scarce and only appear once in a blue moon.
  8. Is that your coin extant4cell? m-dv.ru has some historical prices here: http://www.m-dv.ru/catalog/id,4202/prohod.html I bought mine a long time ago before the prices shot up like a rocket. I reckon that should go easily into four figures.
  9. Can't really call them "greenback" any longer!
  10. This has a lot more details than many of the overstruck Swedish coins of this particular type. Did someone here get it? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-1757-/171692230606
  11. I'm bumping this old thread up. Did anyone saved photos of this particular coin? I thought I did but it might have been on the other computer which crashed miserably a while ago...
  12. This reminds me of this "coin" mentioned here a while ago. http://www.ma-shops.com/fenzl/item.php5?id=2698&lang=en The only other type that may be related is Latvia phone token overstruck over Soviet 15 kopek. I'm sure you would have seen my other overstruck coins such as 1757 1 k over Swedish 1 ore and 1795 / 88 MM 2 k over 1773 2 para - 3 kopek
  13. Hi everyone, just got around to finish Japan Dansco type set album. http://issuu.com/gxseries/docs/japan_dansco_type_set_1870 Hope you enjoy!
  14. I'm sure I did mention this a while ago but Sestroretsk "mint" has a homepage http://www.toolfactory.ru/en/ Curious to know if anyone has been up there to see if there's anything interesting.
  15. This is a rather rare "token". Struck in gold, this is struck supposedly around 1932 for the Japanese occupied Manchukuo. https://books.google.com/books?id=tXSrLbIEDBMC&pg=PA242&lpg=PA242&dq=gold+%22fu%22+manchukuo&source=bl&ots=t3lzAlWRqI&sig=huAGD9vJTX02eV2h44y1KQj-y6k&hl=en&sa=X&ei=dgazVPetAcXQmwX2jIDYCg&ved=0CCMQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=gold%20%22fu%22%20manchukuo&f=false
  16. Hi, welcome to coinpeople. Please note of the following before advertising: Members must have at least 25 Posts and must have been a member for at least 30 Days
  17. I am not impressed. Do you bluntly ignore our warnings or just do not understand English? 1) You have no intention of determining whether they are genuine or not and decided to link straight to ebay. You could have posted a photo first and asked for opinion before listing them for sale. You are more desperate to make a dollar rather than caring about your reputation. 2) Coinpeople forum does have rules of sellers advertising. You must have at least 25 quality posts and be a member here for 30 days. From your behavior, it suggests that you have no intention of correcting your actions and want to put the onus on buyers. I see this as a threat to buyers. As of such, you are not welcome to sell anything here unless you change your altitude and action. We do not welcome unethical sellers like you. Period.
  18. You should learn that attempting to sell counterfeit is not a good idea and you should hold account to it. If people are warning you that it is a counterfeit, learn it fast otherwise you are losing credibility. Your historical sales are extremely poor and if you are here to earn a dollar, you are not going to last. The next time you attempt to advertise a counterfeit for sale here, that will be your last post. First and last warning. PS your coin has also been reported as counterfeit in other forum. I suggest you remove that listing now. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/modern-counterfeit-world-coins-train-your-eyes-get-your-game-up.255003/page-3#post-2035581
  19. IS THERE A NEED TO TYPE EVERYTHING IN CAPITAL LETTERS??? You get the message - it is very unpleasant to look at.
  20. I had a pretty rough year and have been sorting out what I have in my collection to get rid of the duplicates. I am cleaning out my Korean coin album and found this rather rare coin that I didn't get around to catalog. I remember fighting a bitter war to complete this set and it was well worth it. Struck in Osaka Mint, this particular coin is definitely uncommon and I have only seen it appear on major auctions perhaps once a year if not less. Korean and Japanese catalog do not mention a mintage figure however Krause reckons about 5 million were minted. I think that the survival rate for this coin is lot lower than what many think. In fact, I found it is harder to find compared to the lowest mintage coin of this series 1907 1/2 chon which was estimated at 800,000. While the coin may not be in the best condition, it stands a good chance for conservation. Even harshly cleaned coin are hard to come by. That's assuming if you can even come across one for starters. There's one available at Stack's and it's going for a fair amount. http://www.stacksbowers.com/browseauctions/lotdetail.aspx?AuctionID=6048&Lot=30066 Needless to say, let's see some photos: 1906 1/2 chon 1907 1/2 chon 1908 1/2 chon 1909 1/2 chon 1910 1/2 chon Hope you enjoyed it. Please feel free to post any of these Korean coins. I'll get around to photoshop them to show them along side by side.
  21. I got around to working out three albums. Took me a bit longer than I hoped. Here's the three. New Guinea (1935 - 1945): http://issuu.com/gxseries/docs/new_guinea China (1955 - 1992): http://issuu.com/gxseries/docs/china_fen Taiwan (1949 - 1981): http://issuu.com/gxseries/docs/taiwan_album Hope you enjoy!
  22. Constanius, you nailed it! Thank you! Have you seen a similar overstruck token like this?
  23. In my quest of finding overstruck coins, I decided to branch out into other interesting tokens. I got this token dated 1840. I don't really collect British coins, much less tokens therefore clueless about what this could have been. This is an image of the 1840 token. When viewed in an angle, there seems to be a date of 1837 (?). As of what it could have looked like originally, I would like to see what it may have been. Will post bigger photos when I get around to it.
  24. Your link is removed as you do not have the following: - You need to be a member of this forum for 30 days - You need to have 25 quality posts before advertising This is to ensure that you are not a spammer and allow others to get to know you better. If you attempt to ignore this and continue to advertise, you will be promptly removed from this forum. A copy of this will be sent via PM
  25. Something looks odd about that Cipher coin extent4cell. Never seen such an unusual overstrike...
