  1. Hi Silbereuro - thank you for showing a nice view of the sable . As you may know this Siberian animal appeared first on the Siberian coins (1766-1781), an example of which see attached. Sigi
  2. Yes, it might be corroded (but evenly). The monogram side crown is unusually sharp. The value side is from exactly the same defective die as the Bakken coin, sold in Munich abt. 2 years ago at EURO 1600 plus gravy. I have no doubt about genuineness. As it is the only one of the Siberian 10 kop. still missing with me, I wanted it badly. I was crazy enough to bid EURO 2020,07. But someone else went even higher. Who knows how much he bade - according to eBay's rules he got it it at just EURO 10 over my bid. I don't know what to say. I still don't have the coin but I saved that heap of money I don't really have aside to spend for a coin. And maybe the coin is even uglier than on the poor pictures...... Sigi
  3. http://www.ebay.co.u...5084%26_rdc%3D1 Hit the link above. A gorgeous coin! The date looks a bit strange but minor variants are not uncommon. But BEWARE. Watch the other (monogram) side. There is a berry on top of the left twig. That berry appears only on coins from 1776 on. So this nice 1767 is in fact an altered 1777. Sigi
  4. Very easy. Just copy and paste into your own offer. The doubtful item is already above $100 and still 4 hrs to go. Let's see. Sigi -
  5. First coin looks worn but OK, the second coin looks suspicious, not tempting anyway. But the edge picture for each of them is the same. I suppose that the edge picture belongs to the first (good looking) coin. That edge picture may have been copied for the 2nd coin??? Sigi -
  6. Thank you, Ron. My images are just 3 scans each, put together with photoshop. Regards, Sigi -
  7. Hi Ron, I don't know yet if this will be of use for me. I'm about your age and getting more and more reluctant to look into unfamiliar things See my collection below (link). If you think you can use the pictures, feel free to include any or all of them. Sigi (RNS#63) -
  8. That's a pretty tough type coin Only the 1757 is seen every now and then, but it's always fake. Wolmar 2012 catalog quotes: 1757 VF $40, XF $300, 1758 VF $60, XF $400, 1759 VF $50, XF $350. No later dates. Sigi -
  9. Amazing pictures how did you do them? Sigi -
  10. Very interesting, Hisa! What do you think - could it be a re-overstrike? What about the other side? Thank you for your time. I tried to remove the green stuff out of the edge's holes but without much success. It would go away by cooking the coin in soda but the color would probably suffer. Sigi
  11. Bob, on my 1st picture there is an arrow pointing to what looks like a previous Д (from ДЕСЯТЬ). The reoverstrikes are sometimes larger than the regular coins - and sometimes they aren't. There were quite some examples in the Bakken sale, compare the pictures.
  12. And finally the edge 90 degree wise as before. Looking forward to your comments, thank you Sigi
  13. Sorry for the delay but that many pictures take time. As pictures should show details but are limited here to 500K I'll have to split my 12 pictures into 5 postings. I took 4 each of date side, eagle side and edge. Attached are the first 2 of eagle side. The 2nd 2 of eagle side to follow.

  15. You are perfectly right - I only checked Wolmar and Conros catalogs where there is no mention of a rope edge variant for 5kop1796AM. Logically a 10kop1796AM with its rope edge should leave at least traces of that edge when reoverstruck into a 5kop1796AM. Thank you for widening my horizon! But sadly enough my coin doesn't reveal the slightest trace of a rope edge It is just reticulated. The 10kop1796 were not issued for circulation. So it is very unlikely that AM reoverstruck any reticulated edge 10kop1796 from another mint, but only their own rope edged 10kop1796AM. This means that my coin is likely just a normal 5kop1796AM without more. Sigi
  16. Yes, it looks like a cyrillic D. As the coin was lacqered it is now bathing in acetone. Once stripped I'll make new pictures.
  17. There is no rope edge known for 1796AM. The edge is the normal AM reticulated edge.
  18. Hi friends - this coin looks suspicious Is ít reoverstruck from the 10 - ДЕСЯТЬ - kopek 1796 ? I hope eagle eyes gxseries will also comment. Thank you, Sigi
  19. The Heidelberg university put the 2 rare catalogs online. No prices given but click on the "Tafel.." link for the pictures. They are sharp and don't include any Chinese fakes, as there weren't any at the time. Enjoy, Sigi P.S. For the two catalogs see TWO links below. http://digi.ub.uni-h...nachf1932_04_25 http://digi.ub.uni-h...nachf1931_02_18 -
  20. That's not a fake eagle, it's Paul's re overstrike with the slightly changed design both sides. The EM looks indeed a bit like KM, but it is EM - there was no KM. Much depends on the angle from which the picture was taken. Nice coin by the way and I think the high price is justified Congrats to the winner. Sigi
  21. The 2nd 1 in 1810 is too thick, apparently some common date for the 1804EM eagle side has been altered into 1810. The KM mint mark letters are not of the normal style. Sigi -
