Really? No-one interested in rare coin. No-one interested in common and scarce coins... I guess, this trading idea is not too hot.

1st one does not. second, I do not know... there are some things that look real, and some things on it, that do not.

If a guru told you not to touch it, he most likely believes the corrosion will not progress. Then, it is only an issue of esthetics...

Very budget offering (unlike the previous one). I think these (at least most of them) are easy to match.

Anything (russian pre 1917) goes. Maybe some rare soviet coins (I got all common ones already in decent shape). Condition is a huge consideration. Lets move these, because I got a a lot more.

this is just a small bit of what I do not need. Want to clean up. Got bunch of silver too, but, I want to see if there is any action here. Some of cute but common. Some are ugly but scarce to rare.

You will mind if one day you need to sell, and do not want to sell at a loss. I never thought such day would come, but it did for me...

Exactly my point. Not one is even remotely Unc. Most show the signs of rotting. Dug-up coins that been cleaned(except for, maybe, the first one). The 1600euro one was stripped to bare metal, from the way it looks. Still, that is purely my opinion, which I do not force upon anyone.

There are no experts this side of the ocean that I know, that can fix this. I do not know if this corrosion type is active like the green crap, but, if it is -- you leave it alone and it will eat holes big enough to hide in it. I would go on a russian forum and ask a specialist about it. I would not just leave it, until I knew for certain the problem will not progress.

a coin like that, I would just sit there and watch. Soak it for 5-10 min, then try to remove crust with a wooden toothpick. Do not touch the field because you may leave scratches. Just the crust. Watch the color of the coin. Should not affect it, but, you never know. Sometimes the crust just dissolves. Then you will need to dry it with alcohol after you done.

did you try .5% vinegar solution? It should take care of the incrustation... I use it with relative success.

Only good thing about them, is that they are cheap. However, when it comes to collectable condition, it is another story. I would love to build a date set in AU/Unc, but, that is not possible in the US (I have not seen one that is a true Unc), and, most likely, not too easy in Russia.

Ok, just went through it. Just as I suspected -- no documentary confirmation, only a theory. A positive thing from reading that article -- I am glad I have no interest in these whatsoever.

I did not read the article of Evdokimov. Is it posted on-line somewhere? I only have 1 question -- is there any documentary proof that the crookedness of the design is related to anti-counterfeiting strategy, or, that is his theory?

Well, lets wait for trade offers. After all, I do not NEED to trade it. But, I figure it is not fair that I have 2, and some, who collect the copper of the period, had never even seen one...

Point well taken. Maybe the 1854 mule of A2? or 1916 patterns, that also appear more often... The issue would be the price -- those coins, maybe not as rare, but more desirable and command a higher price tags. Do you think I should expand the time period? metal?
