  1. I do not think that strange texture is corrosion... But, let us see what others say. Meanwhile, I would email the seller that you doubt the authenticity of this item. Also, can you photograph the edge?
  2. But, at least on your list, it is on top. That's what is most important. I always like the coin I have, in comparison to one I cannot ever buy...
  3. The coin is amazing! This is a collectable specimen, to say the least. One of his 4 kop was also amazing. I wish it were possible to get high res color photos of these 2 coins and put it in the museum here -- would be a nice point of reference...
  4. At the risk of catching sht for being negative , I do not buy overstruck coins anymore -- they are just too damn easy to fake. Provided this thing is original -- $1200 would prob. be a good price to sell it. I would not be surprised if it went for $1,500, given the fact that a nice collectable example (XF+) would be well over $5,000. I, personally, would not like to pay more than $500 -600 for it (if original), but everyone knows I am a cheap bastard. My reasoning would be -- this is not a nice enough coin to be proud of, as a part of my collection. But, at a certain price it could plug a hole untill I find a collectable example. Then, the price should be low enough, that I would be able to unload it easy. If you pay $1,200 for it, it will not be easy to unload it fast.
  5. But you should not expect a coin like it, unless you are prepared to give something of equal value...
  6. Speaking of novodel, got this today from a forum member who hates novodels. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Now only the 10 kop is missing from this set...
  7. I know a few guys that like novodels, and do not know anybody who admitedly like copies / fakes / replicas etc... Thus, you are not alone in this world
  8. This is cool stuff. I am in. Would be fun to make someone a present of a coin. I hope he/she likes it. :-)
  9. very easy to prove your case here -- this thing is not even remotely similar...
  10. So, the slab is real... What the hell is the matter with these experts?!
  11. That is what I get when I press on it: [#103137] You do not have permission to view this topic. What is it anyway?
  12. If it is a fake slab, who is "they" then?!
  13. Are they blind, or is it a fake slab? http://www.ebay.com/...=item232581d859
  14. I personally like novodels. I have more than a few in my collection, and will add more if I see something I like at a reasonable price. Some people say, that these are not coins, and that there is no numismatic value to them. Well, yes and no. For instance, there is at least 1 coin I can name offhand -- silver 2 rubles of Peter I that only exists in a form of a novodel struck with the original dies. Thus, the only information about that coin can be obtained from that novodel striking. Additionally, there are coins that can only be found as novodel strikings, because the originals are in museums only. One example would be an 1810 spb kopek. I would like to buy at least a novodel in that instance... But, I will not force my humble opinion on anyone. If you have a novodel and hate it, I will take it off your hands...
  15. 45 is ok as a plug... What do you ask for it?
  16. Replica. They came out about 10 years ago, all with that little "H" stamp. Nothing official -- the only reason it is not a fake is that it is marked...
  17. If it is not too bad, I could use it to plug the hole for now... can you post a photo?
  18. 39 is very hard. Still looking... Good job!
