Goetzdude Posted June 23, 2006 Report Share Posted June 23, 2006 K244 K241 K246 K245 K247 K250 A complete set contains 10 different medals with two different obverse designs for each year of the war 1914and 1915 (Christmas at the front), 1916, 1917, and 1918 (Christmas at home). The medals were made in bronze, silvered (versilbert) bronze, and silver. These medals were very popular and therefore cannot be considered scarce although an UNC set of 10 silver pieces could get spendy ($800-1200). I have held off acquiring this set for the most part because I am trying to focus on the scarcer material before the prices go any higher...and they will. So far my collection only contains this very rare, if not unique, 60mm cast bronze example of the Hindenburg K-241 Christmas medal... (perhaps from the same mold as that which the reduction model was made?) and this scarce, silver, K248 Franz Joseph Christmas medal variety with the reverse legend written in Hungarian as opposed to German. If a beautiful matched silver set of these would mysteriously appear I'd snatch them up in a heartbeat!! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

At Moeller auction 41 (Germany, May 2006), result was more than $70 per medal (similar grades).
