Dave Kane
I have two commemoratives from the Netherlands they are both 2 1/2 ECU they are in proof like condition one is 1993 the other is 1995 I cannot find them in Krause does anyone have any information on them I'm mostly interested in mintages. http://www.neocollect.com/item/5587/ http://www.neocollect.com/item/5588/ I have a feeling that they might not be "real" coins but maybe some sort of pattern? Thanks for any help you can give. Dave.
ccg
Try Krause's "Unusual World Coins"
luke_idk
European Currency Unit is a sort of Euro ancestor. In fact, it was a simple currency unit and there wasn't a circulation coinage. Some of European Monetary System's members, anyway, minted a few commemorative coins (I remember of The Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Gibraltar). Anyway, just like for Euro, there are a lot of ECU patterns that are not coins, in any way http://en.wikipedia....n_Currency_Unit PS. Maastricht is a Dutch city, where European Union was founded on 1992. In 1993 it replaced old EEC.
