KoRnholio
Quite a few new pickups today at the bi-yearly coin show. I just barely missed out on an extremely nice, nearly hockey puck sized, Ptolemy II bronze piece Someone had asked the dealer to save it for an hour, and although he was slow getting back to buy it, he eventually did. I still ended up with some neat pieces. Including a quite large (27.3g, 34mm) Hadrian brass sestertius. I love the portrait, even the "scar" doesn't bother me as it almost fits right in. If anyone has a more detailed attribution for this I'd appreciate the help, as this one didn't come with any attributions. More semi-impulse buys below. So far my ancient collecting revolves around interesting pieces, usually with nice portraits. Little rhyme or reason, very eclectic. Carthage in Zeugitana AE 22, later 3rd centurry BC China, Zhou Dynasty Jin Type, pre-350 BC Tetricus I AT Ant AD 270-273 (will go nicely with my Tetricus I barbarous imitative coin) Lokris Opuntia, Opus. AR 1/2 dr. 369-338 BC. Quite a high relief on the obverse of this piece. Seleukid Kingdom, Alexander Balas AE 17 152-145 BC http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/4601/seleukidkingdomalexande.jpg http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/4601/seleukidkingdomalexande.jpg

Steve D'Ippolito
Any ancient copper that isn't porous is a big win.
KoRnholio
Better pictures! Took enough shots, but finally I got the obverse to look almost identical to how it looks in hand. After looking at some of the other coins of this type, I think I got a pretty decent deal on it. Most of them are corroded, rough, just ugly. This one is more worn than some I saw, but definitely more attractive in my eyes.
