alexbq2
Both medals are from the same series dedicated to the Russian war with Persia and Turkey (1826-1829). The first one is the taking of Adrianopol, the second is the taking of Kars. I don’t know how much they are worth. Possibly $300-$500(?)

RW Julian
Thank You for ansver. Maybe somone know how many medals in this series minted? There are 12 medals in this series. All are listed in the reference by Mikhail Diakov, Medals of the Russian Empire, part 8. RWJ

burda-graph
RW Julian - Thank You for information Does this catalogue include prices of medals? Collecting all 12 - that would be incredible. This would be a great collection. They have 65mm in diameter. However, since I have them - I have seen them only once in the Internet the third of this series - the Balkans. I do not have extensive contacts all over the world - so collecting the series is rather impossible to me. I collect Swiss shooting medals. Maybe I could buy a few shooting medals when I sell these ones? (of course if they are worth a lot).

IgorS
burda-graph, can you make a scan of the edge of the first medal? If not, tell us if you see a seam there. It looks a little suspicious.

RW Julian - so this two are rare or not? All of the 12 medals in copper have the same rarity in the Diakov work, scarce (R1). I would perhaps say that Diakov’s “scarce” is somewhat conservative and think that “scarce to rare” might be better. RWJ

It looks a little suspicious. What do you think of this edge? Weight appears to be a bit high - 165g. Should be 110g-130g.

Is the medal in your possession? Did you try a "ding" test? Does it make a dull thud or a nice ringing sound?
alexbq2
Still looks suspicious. Is the medal in your possession? Did you try a "ding" test? Does it make a dull thud or a nice ringing sound? Yes, I just picked it up. It does not thud. I'll compare the pitch to objects of comparable size later tonight. It's a good looking medal but a bit lumpy - kid of lens shaped, and it is 165 grams! That's at least 30 grams overweight. What do you think of that? On an unrelated note, can anyone post large pictures of the medallion in MIM Аукцион № 43. Лот № 61? Thanks!
alexbq2
It does not thud but it's ring is much duller than normal. I thought it might do something with it's size. But comparing it to the ding of all of my copper medals of similar size, it is distinctly dull and does not resonate as long! And I'm suspicious of this area, near the edge:
IgorS
It has to be a galvanocopy made of 3 parts - obverse, reverse and edge. That's why the seams are at the sides of the edge.
