I am very happy that my country is not strange to you. Besides beautiful
women we have also a very interesting history. There was even time when
Poland was not on maps..it was divided by powerful superpower countries
- Germany, Austria and Russia.
However, after I World War we regained indpendence. In the history - we
have had many bad and good moments..
For example, one of the biggest battles of the Middle Ages - Grunwald
1410..It is estimated that 45 up to 70 thousand soldiers participated in
the battle.
At one side there were the Slavs - the Polish, Liev, Russian and Czech
Armies were led by the Polish king Władysław Jagiełło.
At the other side there were the Order of the Teutonic Knights and elite
troops from the entire Western Europe. They were led by the great
Tuutonic Master - Ulruch von Jungingen (died in the battle).
The battle was painted by one of the greatest Polish painters - Jan
Matejko. Very big:

There was also a movie in 1960. Of course, without special effects which
we have now. If someone is interested in the history of the Middle Ages
- I sincerely recommend.
