ScottO
never seen a reverse like this, i even questioned authenticity however that cut on the side is acctually something that has poped up on minted coins (which therfore rules out casting)

RW Julian
never seen a reverse like this, i even questioned authenticity however that cut on the side is acctually something that has poped up on minted coins (which therfore rules out casting) Perhaps a contemporary counterfeit? It appears to be an 1845 EM piece, which does not exist as a genuine coin. RWJ

one-kuna
looks CM to me, however, cast copy most likely from a picture
ScottO
thats the thing, it looks cast on that side, but rim has an error i have found on minted pieces, (the line) and the obverse is fine.
BKB
I would say that if it is a copy, it was not made for collectors. A CM in this condition is very easy to get for 5 - 15$.
ScottO
definatly not a modern copy, and there are signs of circulation on the obverse some scratches, and a few edge knocks, as well as a smooth edge with no seamlines, and some scratches from bumping about and that deep cut in the edge i have found recently on a coin in my change only less noticable so i can assosiate that with the minting process. got it for £1.99 with a worn 1820 2 kopeck so really, its not an issue, its just an interesting piece
