I have been to Pompeii and it was an eye opening experience on many levels.

I'll cast my vote for the 2nd one too. Which reminds me, it's Valentines Day... :ninja:

I went on a tour of Italy a few years ago, Rome, Sorrento, Pompeii, etcetera. It was truly amazing!

As for Classics, Latin is not too bad but Ancient Greek is far from easy. But I must admit that the Greek Tragedies and the like are exceptionally interesting. But it has to be the history and archaeology that draws me to it all. Yet I do not collect Ancients... ;)

But yes, 'interesting' coins. :ninja:

They are known as spintriae and its questionable as to what function they served. Click on the name for a link to one summary of explanations. BTW, I like all of them, but they are too damned expensive if you have to pay cash. The counterstamp on the second is interesting.

Oh TreasureGirl, I'm trying to think ;) of a response that won't get me in trouble.

They seem to be brothel tokens LOL there is a museam of pornography that is dedicated to the finds from Pompeii, and one of the rules is you are not allowed to laugh :ninja: (Realy it's true) it's in Naples, in the "gabinetto segreto" or "secret room" at the National Archaeological Museum
