STEVE MOULDING
Personally I wouldn't go near it. The lettering looks clumsy and doesn't match lettering on any of the originals I know.

Agreed, plus traces of overstrike do not justify its authenticy, looks to me as a recent attempt to full someone...

Yes, the lettering is not too convincing. I was taken in by the overstrike, and no cast marks
RW Julian
Looks real! What do you think? It looks like the letter H has been removed from the obverse, just above the 7 of the date 1796. RWJ
squirrel
so, a die was made from one of those H marked copies, and stamped onto a 2k of Catherine II, and "antiqued"? undercoin detail looks convincing.
one-kuna
Yes, the lettering is not too convincing. I was taken in by the overstrike, and no cast marks this coin could have been better initially placed in fake section
gxseries
Ah yes, the seller from Ukraine. I remember trying to bid on it but decided not when the price went too high as well as the details looked totally wrong. It reminded me over Julian's warning of the counterfeit overstruck Peter III 1762 ruble which I thought can happen in this case.
