Nightwing
These kind of snuck out: http://www.coinnews.net/2009/01/13/2009-na...ed-jan-15-4681/ Anyone pick a coin or roll up yet? I was going to go to my bank today, but priorities got in my way. They probably wouldn't have had them yet anyway. It looks like the US Mint has updated the sidebar links on their catalog to accommodate the new coin: http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs/store...identifier=3000

Coinjoe2006
And what was the point of changing the coin in the first place?
Nightwing
And what was the point of changing the coin in the first place? For the same reason they created the Presidential series, they want people to collect and use the $1 coin as opposed to the $1 bill. Plus, supporters of the Sacagawea were a little annoyed that their coin wasn't being pushed into circulation. This was a way of making money and making Sacagawea supporters happy. I just know I'll be collecting one more $1 coin this year. When you think of it this seems like it could be the passive aggressive approach for the replacement of the $1 bill. In theory the plan doesn't need to call for the government to force the $1 coins on people, not at first anyway. What they'll do is build an inventory of $1 coins with their programs so when the times comes to make the switch there are plenty of $1 coins in reserve for immediate use. Also, when this happens more people may decide to collect the series forcing the government to produce more $1 coins and thus making more money for the government. (Just a theory that I thought of, but don't actually believe).
Nightwing
Bummer, my bank says they don't order the Sacagawea's. I'll check again in a few weeks when I go for the next presidential coin. Perhaps the teller didn't realize that these are suppose to be available to the public now. If they don't have any then I'll call around to see if any banks in my area have the new coins, because I want to avoid ordering from the US Mint due to the minimum order quantity required. 250 coins is a lot. If the quantity was more like 100, which would be 4 rolls, I'd order the coins right away. http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs/store...identifier=8100 Has anyone been able to pick up a role of '09 Sackies from their bank yet? Mark Stilson
They do have the individual rolls here.
Art
Haven't even tried. I'll probably get a roll or two but I don't keep any of them. One easch PDS for my collection and probably an extra for my type set.
Nightwing
They do have the individual rolls here. Yeah, but those are the collector coins. I'd want to be able to spend my leftover coins like I do with the Prez coins not have to worry about losing money on the deal.
