These were posted on another forum and I thought I would pass them along as they are, IMO, very neat. Its interesting to see these coins as they were found:

First one is a hoard of Greek coins found in two old jars:

Two Jars of Alexander the Great Tetradrachms, each Jar has around 500 coins, some of the coins would be:

Demetrios I Poliorketes Tetradrachm 1 coin

Antigonos II Gonatas 1 coin

Lysimachos 2 coins

Seleukos I 3 coins Elephant type

Seleukos II 7

the rest are all Alexander the Great coins.

Thanks to Salem Alshdaifat for posting these

Large hoard of Athenian silver tetradrachms buried in a sack. Fourty-six coins were removed separately but most of them were lifted in a concreted mass weighing 6,280 grams. About 400 Athenian tetradrachms in total recovered in Greece by excavators with the American School of Classical Studies

Drusus, thank you SO MUCH for posting these. Stories of hoards always intrigue me. These are great pics and hopefully someone has more to post. I always just imagined a pile of unadulterated coins coming out of the ground.
