halfdollar
And do they command any premium in price? I have been looking for a few years now and have only been able to put these together. I'm also thinking about selling them and wondered if I should get them graded if its worth spending the extra money.
ElleKitty
I can't really say how common they are, but I know I have found several copper cents over the years that have toned beautifully. This is one of my favourites.
KoRnholio
I've been looking pretty hard as well for toned Canadian coins. There are a few out there, but they generally don't bring very large premiums unless they are both "monster" toned and slabbed. Those 1970's specimen dollars (especially the 1973 RCMP commemorative) do often have quite nice toning. I don't have a voyageur one myself, but I have a few of the 1973's. Centsational
There are certainly some out there, but really nice naturally toned coins seem tough to come by. I think I remember hearing somewhere that some mint sets contained some sort of chemical that would naturally tone the coins over time. This is one I plucked out of a specimen set. This one I found on ebay a few days ago...not worth much, but I thought it was nice looking.
ccg
67 (all coins), 71 S$1, 72 S$1, and 73 S$1 are the most commonly encountered toned coins. Generally speaking, premium is low (if even) unless the toning is spectacular, as mentioned.
