FORMER Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher launched a collection of coins in Kingswood to mark the 25th anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands.

The Iron Lady struck the first in a set of commerative coins at Pobjoy Mint, in Bonsor Drive, on Thursday last week.

The coins were commissioned by the Falkland Islands' Government and will become legal tender on the islands.

During the striking of the coin, Lady Thatcher said: "As Prime Minister I learnt that when Government puts money into circulation, all you get is inflation.

"But on this very special occasion, perhaps I can make an exception to this rule."

I wonder how that gels with the constant issue of "commemorative coins"? :ninja:
