Vfox
I'm putting together a set of US one dollar notes 1899-current by type. Recently I got some really nice 63 one dollar notes in change, and some from the 80's-90's as well, so I figured, heck why not get all the years for the FRN's. Well, searching the internet has really given me little information of the dates I need. Even the BEP's site only lists the first couple, and wikipedia, my normal compilation of random facts only lists the large size dates. This is the list I've come up with so far, PLEASE tell me if I am missing a year! And if you happen to have a green eagle or 28 red seal for sale, let me know. LARGE SIZE: 1862 [] 1869 [] 1874 [] 1880 [X] 1886 [] 1890 [] 1891 [] 1896 [] 1899 [X] 1917[X] 1918 [] 1923 Blue Seal [X] 1923 Red Seal [X] SMALL SIZE: 1928 Blue Seal [X] 1928 Red Seal [] 1934 [X] 1935 Hawaii [X] 1935 N. Africa [X] 1935 Silver Cert. [X] 1957 Silver cert. [X] 1963 FRN [X] 1963 FRN (Barr) [X] 1969 FRN [] 1974 FRN [X] (Needs upgraded to Au/Unc) 1977 FRN [] 1981 FRN [] 1985 FRN [] 1988 FRN [X] 1995 FRN [X] 1999 FRN [X] 2001 FRN [X] 2003 FRN [X] 2006 FRN [] (I've only seen these in uncut sheets so far)
jtryka
You are missing quite a few, here is what I know for $1 notes: FRNs: 2006 2003A 2003 2001 1999 1995 1993 1988A 1988 1985 1981A 1981 1977A 1977 1974 1969D 1969C 1969B 1969A 1969 1963B 1963A 1963 1918 (many signature combinations) US Notes: 1928 1923 1917 (many signature combinations) 1880 (many signature combinations) 1878 1875 (many signature combinations) 1874 1869 1862 Silver Certificates: 1957B 1957A 1957 1935H 1935G 1935F 1935E 1935D 1935C 1935B 1935A 1935 1934 1928E 1928D 1928C 1928B 1928A 1928 1923 (many signature combinations) 1899 (many signature combinations) 1896 1891 1886 (many signature combinations) Treasury Notes: 1890 (many signature combinations) 1891 (many signature combinations) National Bank Notes: 1875 That's about all I could find for $1 notes. Vfox
Wow, awesome Jeff, thanks! Where did you find the info? Or do you just happen to know, lol. I am not worried about sig combinations, or series A, B, C, etc....I am just working on a year and type set from 1899-current. Although with the cheap prices on the newer notes, I might get the A, B, C....series and whatnot. Thanks again, twas a big help!

The easiest source I've found for stuff like this is Coin World's Paper Money Values: Link. You can search by type, denomination, seal color, or Friedberg number. Very handy. jtryka
The interesting thing is that there are a lot of other series years that are not on your list since $1 notes were not printed, like 1950, 1953, 1966, 1990 and 1996 just to name a few recent ones. San_Miguel98
as long as you're collecting by type, don't forget about the experimentals! you'll need the R & S silver certificates, and at least one web-press note. there's other experimental silvers out there, but they're a lot less noticeable. the only way they distinguish themselves from regular issues are the serial block letters. Web Press Notes

Vfox
Really?? I guess I'll have to look out for those varieties before I have my complete set. Haha, you guys just can't leave me well enough alone! I will surely look into those though, With the amount of currency I get to rummage through I will surely find at least a web press! Silver certs are far and few between, but now that I know what numbers to look out for I'll have to check mine, lol. Also the red letters, I've heard about those, I'll have to see if I can grab a cheap one.

If it hadn't been for some bleeping many people here my collecting interests would be one heck of a lot narrower and less confusing and I wouldn't be sidetracked by Romanian banknotes, Portuguese coins, Danish banknotes, Netherlands silver commems etc.

Vfox
Updated, down to 3 FRN's and a green eagle for the 1899-current date set. Updated, thanks to Jeff I now own every year of the small sized notes from 1928-2006! I only own the year, not every series or variant mind you, but it still took a lot longer to put together than I thought it would. On a good note, all but about 4 of the 1963-2006 notes were found at work in the registers and purchased for face. Now I just need to get them all in Ch. Unc. And that 1918 green eagle I need to find. I am having some issues finding one for the price I am willing to pay, I think I may have to offer more than $130 for a Xf/Au soon. Eh, I'm sure I'll get lucky on eBay one of these days........maybe, lol.

Vfox
Well, I've been able to get some quick photos of my $1 set, and $5 type set. I still have to get the green eagle to complete the 20th century $1 set, and then I have to upgrade, get the R&S experimentals, and the web presses. And then get every series, that could take a while.

Vfox
Thanks Dave, but now the hardest part comes, series, upgrades, special interests. I have a LONG road on this, lol. It's fun though, I really enjoy the challenge of finding them, and it's still nice to be able to find nice circulating Xf-Au notes, all the way back to 1963 on a regular basis!
