Bluesfil
I am not sure if this is the right spot to post this but I wanted to let people know that there are some nice coins listed for auction in Australia this week at one of the Premier auction houses. I am not giving them a plug - I thought some of you might be interested in the two Siberian coins at the bottom. Remember that the estimates are in Australian Dollars so I have no comparison for what they sell for in America <http://www.statusint.com/result_coins.php?id=184> Siberia: 1779 KM Catherine II 10 Kopecks. C-6, B-527. Practically as struck. Good Russian coins such as this sell for prices well above KM. (P) <http://www.statusint.com/detail_coins.php?id=9355> Siberia: 1780 KM Catherine II 10 Kopecks. Natural rev flan flaw. C-6, B-529. EF. Scarce. (P) <http://www.statusint.com/detail_coins.php?id=9356> If nothing else the pictures are worth looking at Kind regards Phil

kisenish
THIS ARE A**HOLES!!! THEY WANT MY CREDIT CARD DATA IN ADVANCE!!! Never seen such an unshamed auction house - read their conditions! - you'll see that returns are virtually impossible! It means - "WE WILL RIP YOU OFF" considering e.g. that the Rouble 1859 offered there does not look genuine to me. SO STUPID - they think I will put my credit card data in advance!!! How should I scrap my money back from Australia?????
gxseries
Actually I know that auction house pretty well. It's just half an hour away from my place, less than 10 minutes if I did take the bus. I frequent there pretty often so I MIGHT be able to inspect them by hand but it seems that the condition of inspecting them means that I must be interested and put a bid on them

The photo is dark, but you can see edge damage and some wear. 1779 Siberia looks OK, but I wonder if the price should be so high. After all, it is not Danmark... grivna1726
I MIGHT be able to inspect them by hand but it seems that the condition of inspecting them means that I must be interested and put a bid on them How can you decide whether or not to place a bid before you have been able to examine the lots? That is just plain weird!!

Bluesfil
for what is worth (no pun intended) here are the prices realized <http://www.statusint.com/result_coins.php?id=184>
grivna1726
for what is worth (no pun intended) here are the prices realized<http://www.statusint.com/result_coins.php?id=184> The Australian dollar is currently worth about 82 US cents, so the prices shown seem (to me) a bit low for the current market (assuming that all coins are genuine and accurately described). Was there a buyer's fee in this sale?
gxseries
I think commission is around 16.5% (which sounds an awful lot) so perhaps 1000 Australian dollar is more like 1000 US dollars in total.
Bluesfil
Yes I thought they were low prices but the current flavour in Australian collecting is pre decimal Copper and Silver of Australia (1911 to 1964) and Proclomation coinage - Portguese Johannas, Spanish and New World Pillar dollars, Indian silver and Gold, Dutch and British coinage all pre 1800. So it is possible that "bargains" are there to be had. There is also a healthy market in proof coins and Gold coins particularly Australian sovereigns and half sovs. Anyway the intention was just provide a bit of a market appreciation of Russian coin prices outside the USA and Europe. There is a healthy interest in Russian Gold - a friend of mine who is a dealer sold all of his Russian Gold stock to a single buyer at a recent coin show.
