NEW DELHI: The new two-rupee coin has invited controversy from an unlikely quarter. The RSS has demanded withdrawal of the currency for it claims that a holy Christian cross has replaced map of India on the backside of the coin.

Without referring to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, the RSS targeted her. It wants the government to explain why this coin should become a means of promoting Christianity and who took the decision to have an basic version of the Christian cross. The RSS chief K Sudershan has articulated the demand.

Here is what I found about RSS:

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (Hindi: राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ, English: National Volunteers' Union), also known as the Sangh or the RSS, is a nationalist Hindu organization in India known for its grass roots work. It is the largest organization in the world, with approximately 2 million members and millions of other RSS-ideology supporters. It was started in 1925 by K.B. Hedgewar. The RSS is active throughout India and also abroad as the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, "Hindu Volunteers' Union". The RSS is the largest volunteer organization in India. Their general philosophical outlook is cultural nationalism and Integral humanism aimed at preserving the spiritual and moral traditions of India.[1] According to RSS a Hindu can be anyone living in Indian subcontinent.[1]This includes Muslims and Christians. The RSS believes that Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life.[2] The proclaimed purpose of the organization is "serving the nation and its people in the form of God - Bharata Mata (Mother India) and protecting the interests of the Hindus in India".

Nothing new in India, back in 1911 a Rupee of George V was released, and people actually were killed in riots because the elephant charm on a necklace looked too much like a pig. These are now known as the "pig rupees". Needless to say the coin didn't last long in circulation and a new one was released later that year with an elephant more clearly defined.

That is new and very interesting.

Is the cross really look like that for their are refernce that a cross where Jesus Christ was cruzified was a pole and their is also a hanging issue what kind of cross and how Jesus Christ was cruzified from the wrist or from the palm.

About the four dots thank you for that info.

If others are saying they are not a religion then whose religion dominate the country that will back up the sign in the coin if they will replace it with their own sign of religion?

I always thougth that spirituality is always a religion,I still need to learn more.
