belg_jos
Gotten this one on a Belgian coinfair this weekend. 50 Francs on a 1 Franc Planchet The planchet is a lot smaller and thinner than normally is the case, so that explains the weak strike on one side. I still need to check the weight, to be absolutely sure, but I trust the seller. Never seen this before, so it might be a rare one. Scottishmoney
I remember the 1 Franc coins were pretty small and made of stainless steel when I was there. I cannot remember if I saved any of the Belgians, but I know I have a few from Luxembourg floating around.
belg_jos
This is a 1 Franc coin (with rotated dies, to be specific). These are indeed in steel, but nickelplated (so not stainless steel all through). The 50 Francs are 100% Nickel. Luxembourg has used the same materials and sizes to make their coins, and they have been used in Belgium as well. They were worth the same amount.
