Thanks Unfortunately it looks like a "cold" gold coin, a copy of a gold coin struck with a non-existent date worth only its weight in gold. Or, it can be worse and be a "yellow metal" fake, check the weight and test the coin's metal composition (take it to your jeweller for testing). gxseries
Mintmark "R" - The Republic of China? Perhaps it's better if you weigh it and compare it with the catalogue's specification and if it doesn't fit, return it ASAP! Alternatively if you can post some pictures, please do! Hussulo
I found it in my "European Gold Coin Guide Book" 1975 by Hans Schlumberger. King Humbert I (umberto I on the coin) 1878 -1900. 1879 R minted in Rome (all his gold coins where minted in Rome). Mintage of 146,466 6.4516 grams, fineness .900 gold. Edited to add, portrait- he should have a big bush moustache date below bust. reverse- L on the left of a shield with a cross in the middle, 20 to the right of the shield and the shield serounded by a wreath. Ups,Hussulo is right. It seems to be a KM omission! I usually consider the prices on Mr. Manfredini website quite fair: Link (Search for 1879) Jose

I already was afraid that it`s fake. why this coin is not listed in Krause? I think that it is a real gold coin
