I would post a better picture, before specialists start claiming that the mintmark was abrasively removed and the quality of the picture is designed to cover it up. banivechi Posted January 6, 2007 Report Share Posted January 6, 2007 56 from 1756 looks like an overdate over 47. And then the problem is solved: 1747 grivennik has no mintmark (Uzd. 0814). For a moment, you had me confused because these are normally struck without mintmark. Then I realized that it was the mintmaster's initials which were missing from the cartouche on the reverse. Neat coin and I assume very rare, because it is missing from every reference I checked. Also, I see some repunched characters and the overdate, apparently 1756/55 and it's in nice shape to boot.
