Scottishmoney
Kind of interesting that the church burned in 1980 but was not restored completely. Was there some structural issue that prohibited it being restored?

Trantor_3
Kind of interesting that the church burned in 1980 but was not restored completely. Was there some structural issue that prohibited it being restored? The church was abandoned in the 1950's and never used since. It was nominated to be taken down, but when thefire came, suddenly people started crying that such a monument (the oldest building in the city) should remain there.... So it remained a ruin, and the place was used for various purposes (living christmas stable, musical events, drama events etc.). But, becasue there was no roof nor windows, the building detoriated slowly. Then the decision was taken to make this roof, which is well appreciated among all people. A nice mixture between old and new. The building will now be used for more things, like exghibtions etc. since it's closed again

Trantor_3
Libby looking at the Fransiscus church, a roman catholic church. This church is built in the 1930, to replace a smaller church that used to be right next to where this church is now.

Side note: I think the sign says "In mei 1900 verwoestte ...", with some dirt-or-whatever in the first zero. Very nice pictures! Christian

tabbs
Maybe Tabbs can help, being in proximity. Hmmm. Erik's profile says he was "last active" here about a week ago. Sometimes life - in terms of family, job, etc. - just gets in the way. I don't think we should be worried now. Christian
