Friday, a friend told me that the bar keeper of a place we frequently visit, found a weird 2 euro coin, with two heads on it. Could be a luxembourg...

During my coffee break today, I went to a kiosk. Put in €2 in the slot machine (they are ubiquitous here) and I won €6. One of the €2 coins that it gave me was:

Got 8 crisp UNC € 10 notes from the ATM this morning:

These notes are printed in sheets and then cut apart. Apparently there's mutliple sheets cut at the same time and those stacks of notes are bundled. That would explain the serial number inscreasing by 9 each time. However, there appears to be one note missing......  Thus one sheet been taken out perhaps, for a quality check?

 

I spent 5 of them already, so I have 3 left, the top 3 ones.

I may be wrong, but actually I do believe you have "consecutive" notes. The reason the notes skip by 9s is because of the check sum feature. The serial numbers in between do not exist for the Netherlands.

Received my 2006 World Coins catalogue yesterday. It is becoming HUGE!! (the final page number is 2335 ) While I have agreed with some critiques that I have read about the Krasue not being updated enough each year, it does not hold true entirely. I have noticed some revisions, though for being dated 2006- there is info and coins from over 3 years ago that is still missing or incorrect.

However, since the last modern Krause I purchased was the 1996 edition, I am very content with having waited 10 years to get myself a new updated version. The next one will be in 2016.

While I normally prefer the traditionally bound books, this spiral bound version will actually be much easier to use on a daily level. (If you actively collect US coins, I would recommend having at least 1 spiral bound version.)

I have not had a chance to read the contents yet, but just from browsing the pages, I agree with others here that the new layout (colored tables, headers, etc.) is excellent- much easier to read. New photos and other info has been added as well. I thought it might be redundant (and to a certain extent it is of course) to get a 2006 as I just bought my first Red Book (2005) earlier in the year, but I am not at all disappointed. It was a positive and pleasant surprise!

I received mine yesterday. It has a basic set up to the World Coin catalogues, but there are some minor differences also.

The coins covered go back as far as the early 19th century (at least I have not come across anything older yet), and come up to the modern day euro fantasy pieces. Some of the coins shown look so good, that I am tempted to start a side collection! There are some really interesting pieces too, such as the Edward VIII pieces to the square US quarters.

I only have a few coins that are listed in this book. However, I think it will serve as a great reference should I ever come across some unfamiliar pieces. Also it will be a great diversion when I want to browse and view something besides "normal" coins.

I like it.

Probably one of the fastest BIN items while the price tag is pretty high for it... I really wished I had that money to buy such coin... my coin store sells the same coin except that it's totally battered and circulated
