  1. EXCELLENT mail day yesterday!! :ninja:;) My "secret" santa package arrived! It could not have been more perfect!! 2 Awesome coins to check off my "Wantlist"!!! Many Many Kiitokset!

I also received another coin towards my type set: the coin was in pristine condition -finally a real winner from eBay- except that the package and everything in it reeked of cigerette smoke; even the 2x2 plastic flip was pungent! ;)

  2. Constantly changing.  Now I'm done with my type set, I've chosen another new path.  World Mint/Proof sets from 1974 and 1992.  We'll see how that goes.  I have 1 so far.  :ninja:

Finland should not be too difficult ;) : only Mint sets were issued in those years, and they are not extremely pricey.

  3. Here are some notes that I got in the mail a few days ago. Notice the pictures don't have the same number of notes, a few had a blank reverse *shrugs*.

Have you checked out banknotebank.com? It is Omnicoin's sister site and you can post notes there.

  4. My Daughter is getting good at this. Today she brought me a 1934 Buffalo nickel with full date and 1/4 Balboa, Panama that she pulled from her cash drawer at ChuckE's. I got a Canadian Tombac out of the CoinStar this morning.

Those are pretty nice finds from circulation! Especially that tombac. The color alone makes that very different than circulating pieces.

  5. And the V has been found! I am sure it is awaiting a good sauna and beer. :D

:ninja:;);) It has been found! That in itself is worthy of a sauna and a beer!

Looking at when I come up on the schedule, it appears it will most likely still be winter here so a sauna will definitely be in order, especially coming over from the GWN!

  6. There have been many reports by individuals stating that their Marine commem was an excellent strike, great luster, etc. What do you think of the one you received?

It would feel strange to call it luster because of the strong matte surface, but yes it does have a nice appearance. Mine unfortunatley has a single small (0.5-1mm) spot on the obverse where the surface is more smooth and "shiney". So I am guessing it is wera or a defect on the die surface. As I only have one I cannot compare the sharpness of my strike to another. Besides the one blemish, I think it is a very nice coin.

  7. I just got mine today.  Definitely a subtle difference but there nonetheless.  I had thought that they would be much like the SAE or Marshall dollar, but no way.  The finish is in that direction, but much less pronounced.

I finally received mine yesterday. I agree that the difference is very subtle, at least with the coins in the set I received. Had I not known about this before hand, I do not think I would have noticed the difference very easily.

To me it is most distinguishable on the Kennedy.  ...

The 2 Kennedy's in my set look like they were pulled out of a cash register! :ninja:
