It sounds like a normal 1 franc coin to me. I have a few of these, but none on Omnicoin. But Tiffibunny has one there that you can look at and compare to your own.
About the history of the design, well I do not know much about that. Hopefully someone else will.

Lady Sisu was in Denmark last week and I asked her to keep an eye out for "new shiny coins" in her change. She brought these back along with a few others:
-
An Ireland 2005 €2. I guess there are some good points to going back to work after vacation.
-
The past week had some great finds for me (the Finn coins have very low mintage figures):
5 Finland 2003 €0.50
Finland 2000 €0.20
Finland 2002 €0.10
Finland 2003 €0.05
Portugal 2005 €1
Netherlands 2005 and 2006 €0.05
-
A very low mintage 2004 Finland €0.50 piece and a 2004 Finn €2 commem as well.

Coin received, thanks again Bill!

Completed a trade with Art. Excellent!

awwwwwww, sorry about that Harri....
Thank you for your sympathy . At least the problems of the past few days has made me forget about that silly error in the contest.
-
Well, that is how my whole week has gone.

Excellent tabbs, thanks!
Those bridges do look nice with the uv-light. Now to think of how to create a working display to mount in my home, whether on the wall or on a shelf.

Lovely silver!

I've wanted to have one of the niobium coins since they first issued them. The first was blue, if I remember correctly.
Me too. The green one was the one that first caught my eye (it is my favorite color). But it was already sold out. They are quite neat.

...
Second is yet to be determined. The portrait is that of Franz Joseph I, reverse has a shield and 1 Ft. Year is 1887.
Does it look similar to this, but with a concave shield? If so, it is a forint from Hungary.

Nice! Fo some reason I have always found that woodgrain effect more appealing than a bright red copper.

...But before buying one, take in consideration the scale portability, when the lid is closed does it cover all buttons? Useful if you want to carry it (now and then)...
I definitely will, but it will not be the deciding factor as I am sure most of the use for me will be at home.
and i would prefer a scale with a calbration weight included. All of these come with a 50g weight.
btw Jose, what do you use?

Digging up an old thread as it has become relevant again.
The loupe I eventually purchased was a Belomo. It was inexpensive and has served me well!
I am now after a scale. I am looking for a minimum 50gx0.01g capability. I have found a store that sells for a decent price. From their inventory I have narrowed it down to 2 brands and 2 models from each. I will post the links below. Does anyone have any opinions/experience/second-hand knowledge/etc about any of these??
Around $40 JS-50
Around $50 Jscale HP-50
Around $60 MyWeigh Durascale 50
Around $90 MyWeigh MX-50

I posted this in my purchase section but thought that it might be relevant here.
Egypt 20 piastres 1939:
I also noticed that my Hong Kong dollar (1970) has this same edge.

A first for me today: I actually passed up on keeping last year's €2 Finn commem. I have plenty already. However, I did get an Italian 2003 €0.10 and a Finland 2003 €0.50.

Got my first notgeld coin today.

I like that Montreal half penny.

...Always! Heck, I don't care if it's not a megabuck coin, as long as I like it!
Megabuck coin?? Cool!! Never heard of such a denomination, but I would love to see one!
-
I found another 2004 Finland €2 commem.

I'm way off the bell curve on this one. I see minimal wear and nice original surfaces fully deserving of an AU-55 grade. I guess I have no idea how to grade these.
I am not a pro on these either, but I believe the two main items that knock it below an AU grade are obverse: center crown arch well worn, beads barely recognizable; and reverse: leaves are all well rounded and not sharp.
I would say E40 - or in Finnish speak 1+.

Beautiful coins. You have a wonderful collecting theme.
I agree, but it is too much like mine.

Cool red arrows. But can you make them point to a doubled Ike?
