  1. GX, Look at the 1840 EM 3 kopeks. There are 4 variations: Old design, New Design, and 2 mule combinations. The same exists in 2 kopeck coins, and one of the mules (decorated cypher) was struck in 1840 and 1841. It appears that the above 3 kopecks is just such a mule, but unlike the 2 kopeck mule, it is unlisted and I have never seen one before.
  2. Someone in Russia has just dug up this. Quite amazing as this variety has never been published, however the condition has deteriorated so much that it hard (impossible?) to tell if this is real.
  3. My picture turned out a bit dark. You can see that by the background which should be white.
  4. Just noticed the coins are flowing from Russia to Sincona! MiM 82 sold a 1 kopeck 1789 MM for ~3000 (lot 112, 29 June 2013), and that same coin showed up in the last Sincona as Lot 1538 (Sold for 1400 CHF).
  5. Yes, yours is a very surprising turn of events. Sounds like someone really wanted that coin, and then just gave it up.
  6. Some of these coins have already surfaced on other auctions, people buy and sell and trade - business as usual. But I doubt that we will see a new batch of coins referenced as The Sincona Collection, I am guessing that they will come up with a slightly different name if another collector chooses to remain anonymous. BTW here's an example of the resales that I noticed on M-DV. 1) Sincona Collection Part 3 (#19) Lot 61 (Coin grade UNC) - Sold for 2400 CHF: 2) 28th March 2015, Alexander Auction Lot 66 (Coin grade MS62). M-DV has incorrect information, the Auction website list the price of $1500, but I can't tell if the lot sold or if that was the asking price. 3) 10th October 2015, MiM Lot 95 (Coin grade XF). Sold for $2284.
  7. I find it hard to walk past some ugly coppers as well
  8. My impression is that THE Sincona Collection is done. They'll probably have other auctions of Russian coins now that they made a success out of this sale.
  9. Did anyone notice that none of the 4 Sincona collection auctions had any 1830-1839 type (wings down eagle) copper 10 kopecks? Not a single one as far as I could tell. Weird!
  10. Well someone from this forum did outbid me about 7 years ago.
  11. Igor, based on that discussion you've done extremely well! Congrats! A misappropriated Dassier rouble is a very intriguing notion, I'm not sure how this theory will be substantiated but keep us in the loop.
  12. I'd check, as I recall you outbid me on one on eBay some time ago.
  13. As I recall Squirrel has a nice 1798 AM Denga. Maybe he can show it?
  14. They pale in comparison to all those minors in Proof that were sold at the end of the main part of the Sincona collection. BTW, I did win the 1798 AM Denga!
  15. What was the deal with Lot 280 that had the 1790 EM 5 Kopecks with a Wallachia crest stamped into the shield? P.S. This may be a rhetorical question.
  16. Sincona never announced who's collection this was. They just refer to it as The Sincona collection.
  17. Haven't heard of any other candidates.
  18. I thought it was universally agreed that the collection belonged to Sodermann.
  19. Looks like Sincona is recession proof!
