Been trying to get this one for a while because of the nice map scene on the reverse.

I'm not much for goats per se, but - you gotta like tree goats! I remember seeing them on TV nature shows, and now I have some on a banknote!

This note, dated 1979 lists for 50 in the new catalog.. but I paid 55 for it from a favorite, reliable dealer - I checked and they have no more of this type. There is another note offered on Ebay today that is dated 1966 and it is going for 65 - which is full catalog - but I've never bought from them. I can understand your love of maps. I had to have this banknote because of the explorer and the maps... It goes well with my maps of Africa from 1897. I have one overall map of the whole continent and then four more that are more detailed sections of the Southern, Central, Northwest and Northeast areas.

While the designs of all their notes are great, I really like the Portuguese notes with explorers on them. This one sailed into my mailbox today.

Those are some very nice banknotes - I've always wanted to get some, but the prices keep going up and up.... all the more reasons to get some, yet I keep putting it off.

I've always thought these banknotes interesting, and when I came across these two I thought I should get them. These were overprinted to disgrace the Shah Pahvlavi after the revolution ended in 1979 and were used until new notes were printed in 1981. There are eight slight variations of the overprint on the portrait, and four variations of the watermark overprint. I have placed them side by side for easy comparison. The left note is 50 Rials Pick #101c. The right note is 50 Rials Pick #123b, which is directly overprinted on Pick #101.

Welcome to Coinpeople! Thanks for posting these notes! I've been enjoying your banknotes on Banknotebank.com since you've started placing them there. You mentioned that you collect as well as sell and buy - Do you have these in your personal collection already, or are you just ready to get rid of them? I am surprised that there are about 4 or 5 (four I can think of off-hand) people on BanknoteBank.com and Coinpeople that specialize solely in Philippine Banknotes from that era, though each collection is still different because of the issuing authorities (or lack thereof) that were present during that timeframe, especially during the WWII years. Each collection is pretty impressive on it's own, and for it's own reasons.

I don't know about proofs, and especially uncut proofs. I've seen single notes of this proof for sale for about five dollars. I imagine that they follow the specimen values, and take into consideration the rarity and desireablility too. Getting some online stores and auction prices would put it in the right ballpark. Had a nice surprise in the mail today - Forgot this was on it's way.

Today I was very happy to get this in the mail. I needed a pick-me-up and it did the job pretty good. It's AUNC due to a little edge dings. This thing is huge - 8-3/4 inches wide by 4-3/8 inches high.
