- Two new shillings Just got these today
An 1817, and 1819
Some nice, old silver!

This is most likely a souvenir token as it is not of the same quality as the medals. There are many different types of these and hopefully someone else can point you in the right direction.

I like these very much! There's something really satisfying about worn 20th century silver. Nice additions!

I'm glad I am not alone in not liking these for coins.
You're definitely not the only one. As a collector and researcher of English medieval hammered coins this seems like a cheap gimmick to me. A shame, really.
-
Are the original @coinpeople.com addresses still valid?
Yep.
-
I don't generally like coins like that unless they're contemporary. So I collect Anglo-Saxon coin jewellery, too.
You can see one of mine in more detail here.

That would be a great find.
Did youget it at a reasonable price?
Yes, but I sold it.

Dang Clive that's a beauty for sure. Any idea about when it was made?
I'd guess in the early Victorian period, if not earlier as it's got a very primitive clasp.

Thanks, guys!
I'm obviously not as big a Manilow fan as m.

Happy birthday!!!

Most likely due to the different presses they use. I would imagine the RM's is of better quality.
-
Definitely modern fakes.

I'm afraid Pat is right. If it was indeed found in a garden then it was recently added to the soil.

A bit of silver dating from circa 800 to circa 1400, preferably from England. It should have some rarity or some exquisite artwork, perhaps detailing a renowned king in a wonderful portrait.
-
For extra fun, try the three halfpence (1 1/2d) - a pretty short lived series for which pieces don't show up much.
Like this:
I much prefer the hammered small stuff, though.
-
I've slashed prices on many pieces. Be sure to have a look: http://www.historiccoinage.com/Spring.html

I went for the dime, purely because it's got eye appeal and I don't think the halfpenny is unique. See here:

The one in the middle looks like a fantasy piece or token depicting Queen Victoria, most likely manufactured in the first half of the 20th century.
The peacock coin is a Burmese issue from the 19th century, if it's 31mm in diameter it's a Rupee.
The 5 cents has most likely been gilded in the past and would not have been done at the mint. Most likely done as a school experiment or for novelty/souvenir purposes.
We look forward to seeing more!
