  1. Ah! A squiched penny. Seems there are fewer and fewer places to make these now. I've always enjoyed them. This one is nicely done. Stong lettering and nice even finish.
  2. These are such beautiful coins. Thanks for sharing with us.
  3. Very nice. Looks like an interesting way to put some silver away for the future.

I saw it and it's quite tempting. I don't know what to do to help beyond placing a bid or two. BUT I'll give it a go.

Wow! I won. I thought the auction had longer to run. I was hoping to bid more and maybe get a few others involved in the bidding too. Great items to add to my collection. Thanks Colin.
  6. Neat! Is that the Fred Harvey from the radio? (Oops! Wasnt' that Paul Harvey? )
  7. Design and layout used by quite a few coin clubs. The Ocala club usually has handouts at the yearly show.
  8. Do you have any sort of reconning of Casinos that exist/have existed and your chips?
  9. Here's some info on the book that I mentioned. I purchased one new and read it and have since given it away. WOW! Look at the prices on these books. Convict Love Tokens: The Leaden Hearts the Convicts Left BehindIntriguing and poignant messages from the past are borne by the "love tokens" produced by British convicts sentenced to transportation to Australia. Expelled from the known world, usually never to see their loved ones again, convicts defaced cartwheel pennies - sanding back the King's head on one side and Britannia on the other - and engraved their keepsakes with a variety of hopes, fears, messages and predictions. "Convict Love Tokens" catalogues and describes the small coins containing messages to family and loved ones from British convicts about to be exiled to Australia. The authors include photographs of these miniature works of art and sorrow, as well as accounts of the lives of the men and women who made them to leave behind as remembrances. A moving and fascinating account of a little known aspect of Australian and British history. So this auction ends on 4/17... That's good. Still time for a few good bids. $7.25 is my latest bid.
  11. I read an interesting book about the "Love Tokens" produced by the folks exiled from England to Australia way back when it was a new colony. I guess they spent long long periods of time on ships in transit and holding patterns and so tokens were made for lovers and family. Cartwheels were popular bases for them. I guess the size and material made them good canvasses.

I would like to start the bidding with $5.50
  13. It's interesting to me that "Love tokens" have been popular for so very long and yet I see little about them currently.
  14. Nice looking medal and an interesting background. Hopefully someone will have more info on this for us.
  15. Interesting . Adding CA casinos to the collection.
  16. Very interesting piece and wonderful research. Thank you for sharing this with us. I really like this piece and the possible meaning of the labyrinth as following the path to "heaven" is quite interesting. Appears that jeton contains the "tree of life" in the center. Great item for anyone's collection.
  17. I wouldn't have any idea as I don't follow these coins at all, but your work is admirable. The counterfeit markets are ever expanding and provide an interesting "detective" area for hobbiests. Unfortunately they can also provide a big trap for unwary purchasers. Keep having fun and keeping us in the loop on these things.
