I agree completely. In fact, now that i think about it, Peter III's pony tail, and those Big hairdoos of Anna, Elizabeth, and Catherine II, must have all been falsies. Not sure on Catherine I. She seems a bit less vanity concerned than the others. The Russians were a bit late to the Baroque Party, but they sure did catch up fast ( due to Peter I's influence )

That sounds logical. I was flipping through Bitkin looking for the right text to fit the fragment, from an earlier coin, but i didnt think to check "Elisaveta"

This just sold on ebay. High bid (not me) was $360 Anyone have an idea of what the under-coin is? It looks to have been a coin of larger diameter, and trimmed down.

Well said, Grivna Bitkin will remain a valuable work for a long time. Coin values from Petrov, Ilyin, etc are in use to this day by the major auction houses to denote relative rarity.

I recieved my copy of Bitkin today from Antikvarius. Im quite happy. I sent payment via Western union online, which required a bit of set up for them to confirm my bank info (had to call them and answer some questions, i assume for security reasons) but the money wire was confirmed almost instantly after that. Thank you Alex!
