  1. I will not hesitate to remove further posts, xKorzun as this is clearly advertisement. First of all, your first post is not about introducing yourself but advertising about coins from an auction. If this is not an advertisement, I suggest you think twice before writing.
  2. Details are just too crude - someone with skills would have seen pictures of it off a book and engraved it and strike it on a piece of copper. There would have been more feather details but it's clearly not there - it's bulging around the wings, which simply means it wasn't engraved properly. Just to top it off, an original coin of this would be in excessive of 50,000 dollars - it's just that rare.
  3. Not genuine. It's as simple as that. Some might want to pay a lot for it but it's not genuine.
  4. Just accquired this nice copper coin. Don't think I would come across one this nice - bought this as a fluke but I figured it can't be that common. Just saw a range of them on ebay and they didn't look this nice. Weighing at 18.82g
  5. I bought this medal just because I thought it looked funky as well as I happen to own a Toshiba laptop. Of course I have no idea what it was until I researched it. Some interesting links that you might want to read: http://www.archdaily...ba-ihi-pavilion http://www.kisho.co.jp/page.php/211 Now I'm tempted to visit it to see what it is like. Also it reminds me of the old logo of Toshiba - used to be cursive and with the letter "T" going over the top.
  6. Spot on Candidate. I can understand the overdate aspect but reengraved mintmasters initals? That's like taking someone else's work and claiming that it's yours!
  7. It's not the low grade that I'm after - there's a couple of details that made me look at it twice. One major hint: year.
  8. Please let me know how it's fake Andrei. I am more interested to know if this is indeed the case.
  9. Before I mention any more of what I thought of this poltina, thought I would like to hear your opinions on it. http://www.ebay.com/...em=251097144827 Sure is low grade but there is a couple of things that bothered me.
  10. This is a coin that I paid quite high but thought this looks quite unusual. In between the letter "Hong" Kong and "One" cent, you can see the letter "ten" which looks like a cross. This exists on the a former Chinese 10 cash coin struck in 1905, 1906. I am not aware of such coins overstruck on 10 cash coin - were these struck in China or in the UK? Got a feeling that it could be a contempory counterfeit.
  11. Here's one rather difficult coin to find Featuring the Communist era in China. I bought this a while ago but left it in olive oil for a while to remove the verdigris. Hence you might see some marks around it.
  12. Anyone else collects coins by different types of metal? I'm trying to assemble coins struck in different elements - missing titanium, manganese, zinc (should be easy - not looking at US penny because it's copper plated), niobium, lead. About to finish compiling a website that illustrates different kinds of metals in my collection. It does look quite neat. Some unusual ones:
  13. I actually like the bimetal coins better but these don't look too bad either. http://www.gxseries.com/numis/rus_new_type/russia_10r_plated_pg01_small.jpg http://www.gxseries.com/numis/rus_new_type/russia_10r_plated_pg02_small.jpg
  14. Photo is a lot better. You should be able to take a reasonably good photo with a 5mp camera. Doesnt' have to be one of those new 12+mp camera. All you need is decent lighting and steady hands. Use the macro function on your camera. Most cameras should have them - it's shown as a flower. If you have shaky hands, you can use a mini tripod. It should be really cheap these days.
  15. http://www.ebay.com/...=item1e6eff03a2 Saw this online - thought I might post it here since it didn't quite make sense.
  16. Quite high for it but again, try looking for another double overstruck coin. You might be able to find it if you spend the time and effort. Here's mine:
  17. That's what I'm lost at - I want to know where Krause got that reference from because that's VERY intriguing.
  18. Looked up the mintage at Uzdenikov and it's 40,303. Mintage of most of the larger denomimation silver coins (25k, 50k, 1ruble) struck between 1860-70s are less common than other years.
  19. I wouldn't mind buying it if the price is right. It's not that easy to find double overstruck coins especially if the year is visible for all three strikes. I'm looking for a triple overstrike, which in theory can happen but I've only seen one here.
  20. Here's one that's slabbed. This variety must really exist. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140775647843
  21. Definitely overstruck over 1723-1730 5 kopek. You can see part of the cross on top of the crown in the second photo.
  22. It's 1762 10 kopek - original host coin may have been 1757-1762 5 kopek Wouldn't say it's "rare".
  23. Scrap metal value - they don't look like silver. They all look to be counterfeit.
  24. Quite impressive - probably a new record? http://omnicoin.com/top25users/ More than 110,000 coins have been uploaded.
  25. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=true&item=130704106954&si=Wk7m5nsRjb3oxzmmxGC2JR84AXE%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Look at the final price!!!
