  1. I was there about 2 weeks ago for the convention and visited the store also bought several pieces of these $100 pf coins, with a mintage of only 6000 pcs I guess they'll be hard to obtain in the future.
  2. I just bought a set of 5 mexican 1992 notes where the 5 notes have the same serial number: A0004399 they are pretty interesting
  3. This mexican $50 note has a reprint of half of the back on the front: Part of the second impression is missing on the back:
  4. It seems that the info about the release date was inaccurate, the coin was already exhibited and in the next days maybe it will be available, and I say maybe because its really hard to obtain them at the bank. Here is the image of the circulating coin: UNC coin: 700,000 pieces Matte coin: 6,000 pieces (in special presentation) And below the 2 oz. silver coin: PROOF 10,000 pieces (in wooden box) I think both are really nice. I'll try to obtain them in the next days in case someone is interested in purchasing any. Daniel http://www.geocities.com/mexicanbanknotes
  5. I collect world coins and banknotes, trading coins over the internet for the past 2 years has increased my collection a lot, now I have almost 3000 coins. Getting everything from everywere is nearly impossible, so I've decided to focus on commemorative euros, bimetallic & silver coins, and the rest just take it when its UNC.
  6. Got my first titanium coin: Austria 100 shilling 2001 Im very happy with it:
  7. Just received my 1st purchase from ebay, Mexico 5 pesos "Naval Training Ship Cuauhtemoc" Im very happy with it
  8. Thanks for your reply, I have asked a friend in the Netherlands and he sells them, the price 44 euro x 1000
  9. Are these the "Importa" coin holders that you are talking about? Do you know where can I buy the Hartberger self sealing 2x2's ? I have tried in the website but there isn't any dealer that sells them here in Mexico, and the price compared with the first ones in like 45% less, I need around 4,000 for my coins Maybe it would be better to ask a friend in The Netherlands to buy them for me? Daniel
  10. The current 100 pesos note from Mexico has the following poem by Nezahualcóyoltl: "Amo el canto del Zentzontle pájaro de cuatrocientas voces amo el color del jade y el enervante perfume de las flores pero amo más a mi hermano, el hombre" I will try to do a translation: "I love the singing of the Zentzontle (a local bird) bird of 400 voices I love the color of jade and the deep perfume of flowers but I love more my brother, the men"
  11. No, this one is the common design from 2002, those 2000 and 2001 are commemoratives, the ring brass has a brownish tone and it seems that the center has just a thin layer of alpaca (65%cu, 10%ni, 25 zn), because in some parts it has disappeared from the surface leaving just the nickel.
  12. The San Marino coin is beautiful, it reminds me to the old 500 lires..
  13. I have a fake $10 mexican bimetallic coin, it looks very similar to the original, but the eagle and the letters are more thick. I had another, but I mixed it with other original ones and paid something without knowing it... The small stores usually get many every day, but they give them again as change as they seem almost identical to the real ones. I wish I could post a picture of it, but I don't have a scanner
  14. Just to let you know that in fact there was a mistake in the issue date, the 4 coins will be released after december 31 2005 and not 2006 as it was told before.
  15. Thanks for the replies. I wanted to pay something to a dealer that accepts them, but I saw that there are new issues, so I wasn't sure if it would be accepted. The note is circulated and the signature is blue.
  16. Hi everyone, I was wondering if the 5 pounds note of 1990 (George Stephenson) is still legal tender in Great Britain, someone knows? Thanks
  17. If you are lucky enough to find some at the bank then you can obtain them at face value, its similar to the 10 euro coins from Germany for example, if not you can buy them from dealers, right now there are many offers of the current commemoratives of the mexican states at ebay, here the prices are around $14-15 for the most recent coins, but the first one is already selling for $30
  18. Thanks for your fast replies Mediccoin and MisterMcDoo!
  19. No, they are just 3 pages of zeroxed copies
  20. As many of you know the newest WPM is missing the entire listings of Somalia, if anybody already bought it and wants to get a zeroxed copy of the section from the editors (just 3 pages), just send me a PM and I will send you the editor's email. Daniel
  21. Hi everybody, I have a Military Payment Certificate that was part of a collection that I received some years ago, I mainly collect pre 1916 Mexican notes, so I have no idea of this kind of notes. Someone know what might be its value? I know it's not high, but at least I would like to know what I have. Below is an image of a note that looks very similar in condition, for me its F, what do you think? Thanks for your reply.
  22. If you can find it at the banks you can get it at face value (around $9) if not then you have to buy it at a higher value The date in the coin seems to be 2005 however, according to what I read, it will not be issued until december 2006, maybe there's a mistake either in the date or the release date.
  23. These $100 coins are intended for circulation but I have never seen anyone paying or purchasing something with them, I think people like them because they are too big so they keep them. The previous series of pesos: $10, $20 and $50 had a silver center, but nobody knew it, so you could find some nice silver coins in your daily change There's even a proposal in the congress of introducing the onza (the equivalent of the american silver eagle) into circulation, not a silver peso, the onza without a denomination and considering its value with an official equivalence in pesos, because when the silver value surpasses the nominal value then the people preffers to melt them. It's an interesting theme, if someone knows spanish can read more here: http://www.plata.com.mx/plata/plata/3.htm
  24. I also think it's uncommon, technically the theme is "Calavera Quijotesca" I dont really know how to translate that, I think its skull-like Quijote. Unfortunately we will have to wait until dec 06' to get it I hope the others are released sooner, I think the one with the angel will be very nice.
