Possible 1999-D Georgia Quarter Struck on Nickel Planchet??

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum because this Quarter has really been bugging me from not being able to figure out what it is.

It is a 1999-D Georgia Quarter weighing in at 5.00 grams. According to the website- (http://www.statequarterguide.com/1999-georgia-state-quarter/), this quarter weighs 5.67 grams while Jefferson Nickels weigh in at 5 grams. So with that being said, I definitely thought it was the quarter struck on the nickel planchet.

But when I look closer at the coin, it looks like there is the normal copper ring on the bottom that quarters have. I will include pictures so you guys know what I am talking about.

Any information on what this coin could be would be greatly appreciated. Is it common? Is it worth anything? etc.

Thank you in advance,

Chase

Hello and welcome to CoinPeople. I don't have any information about your "quarter". It does look like something worth investigating. Hope someone will have a bit more info for you.

I think I've seen this before. Sometimes coins get caught in the rim of the clothes dryer and roll in the track around and around and around. Hundreds or thousands of times. That coin looks like it's been rolling in a track just like that. It would explain why one edge is rounder than the other (because it's leaning towards that side).
