gxseries
Obtained a rather unusual 5 kopek dated 1977 and this weighs at a mere 2.62g whereas most 5 kopek struck in this era should be around the 5g mark. This weighs less than a 3 kopek coin! Any known examples of counterfeits? Will post photos soon.
BKB
There are acid altered soviet coins. I have 10 kop as thin as a sheet of paper. Weighs nothing, but all design is there.

gxseries
You might be right BKB. I remember doing something similar except I thought the details were a bit more worn down. What do you think about this? Might have to send this back if that is the case.
BKB
photograph it next to a normal 5 kop. Also, place it on top of the regular 5 kop and photograph the edge -- this would be a good start. A loss in weight would normally be associated with loss in mass. If the coin is the same size, but 1/2 in weight -- it must be made of aluminum, or something. I am no chemist, but what else would produce this result at the same size?
