Offcuts and colour control strips.

Hello folks,

I am wondering if anyone has any banknote offcuts or colour control strips.

:ninja:

I have some offcut control strips from Australian paper ten dollar notes.

These strips have the silver strip/thread running through them.

Hello Art,

I've not seen any others either, which is why I asked.

Oh, and sorry Mr. Mod, faux pax. Didn't realise that was naughty, I do now.

I guess I need to write a bit more.

These blew away from a furnace that was being used to destroy them.

Apprently loads of these got burnt up every now and then. Seems a truck driver had bad aiming while dumping a load and these strips, and they blew around one of Melbourne's suburbs for several days. Strips that were overly grubby, wet, or muddy, didn't even get a second look.

This was in the early 1980's.

There are some different numbers on them, some have no numbers.

I can't see any watermark in the paper.

Just the silver strip.

Never seen such a thing... maybe I should hang out behind the printer's more often! I suppose in general this kind of stuff is pretty well controlled. Closest I have is some printer's waste - this is a "banknote" printed on blue tissue paper, used to test to make sure the print looks ok. It's not a proof, just scrap that's supposed to end up in the trash.

Hi Dave,

well there you go, I 've got some various types of test prints, bits of various designs here and there on a leaf, but, never have I seen tissue paper used.

How delicate is that going to be?

And, how lucky are you to be its caretaker.

I'm sure there are some real weird bits n bobs out there.

The strips above were a bit of fun for a while, you could put as many as would fit in your wallet and say to your mate, hey I won the lotto, look. Their eyes would fall out. Needless to say, nearly all of them were given away, because at the time, well, you know, they were, uh, interesting rubbish. Mates and their kids got most.

I kept a few of each 'type' that I could see.

I guess I should get around to scanning what is actually in the bag.

My Dad onced worked at the R.A.M. in Melbourne, he was working, ha ha.

I must stop right there.

This really needs its own post, and so do I. Needs posts, so.

The elaboration was to be regards what he did in the RAM.

I'll probably get a thick ear for letting this out. :ninja:
