The mintmark seems to be somewhat obliterated and not having any experience in looking at them, cannot even venture a guess as to what it could be. Drusus Posted January 19, 2009 Report Share Posted January 19, 2009 I believe it is a Richmond round with an obverse which shows two sceptres through a crown, and the legend CARO DG MAG BRI Charles, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, reverse with a crowned harp and the inscription FRA ET HIB REX France and Ireland, King. Minted under lincense to Frances Stewart, Duchess of Richmond and Lennox and Sire Frances Crane. as for the privy mark before the C...hard to see...if you have not already seen it, here is a page with the possible marks: http://www.psdetecting.com/Mintmarks-Charl...-CharlesII.html maybe you can make it out.
