is this a fake Elizabeth ruble?

It just looks bad in general, something about the reflectivity in the silver compared to the amount/lack of wear on the coin. In general it shows no mint lustre but should for one in such condition. Basically...probable fake.

I cannot say for certain, nor should anyone without physically inspecting the coin, but the general look of his older Russian coins is "unusual" at best.

This doesn't even look like it's made of gold...???

I find these questionable...

And here is your typical story of a dead Russian collector who had many "rare" coins.

I would avoid anything except for the modern stuff from this guy to be on the safe side. Too many questionable items for me.

I agree, looks bad. Most of the coins I have seen from this seller look bad or hysterically bad.

This seller also used

sales-lora

1950lora

and sold counterfeits under those names as well. The name was probably changed because

too many people caught on to the fakes being sold.

I had some correspondence with “1950lora” and “she” claimed to be the widow of an “expert

collector” and was selling off her late husband’s collection. The location of this seller was sometimes

given as Israel and other times as Germany.

I actually bought a coin a few years ago, which was a fake copper cast, from one of these Loras. The seller was listed to be in Germany, but the coin arrived from Israel.

Also, there was a post recently, on the russain coins section, about a "new mint" opening - a few dozens funky looking copper fakes and fantasy pieces were offered by this very same seller.

Don't want to start a new thread so here's a funny fake:

Ah, I've seen that fake before. It's interesting how muddled everything except the raised lettering/design looks isn't it? :ninja:
