A bit of numismatic fun here. I'll not post it in the competition forum because there's no prize except perhaps the satisfaction that you got it right.

 

 

Here are two coins,

 

1) Morgan Dollar

Question - How are these two coins related?

Morgan worked on both coins. I believe he did the engraving for the obv on the Vicki and then of course, the morgan dollar.

Well that's even more precise than was needed.

 

The Victorian Bun head was designed and engraved by Leonard C Wyon who was the man that trained up George T Morgan.

 

It is very likely (although i can't say with any certainty) that George T Morgan engraved dies for the Victorian coins themselves, i presume that they are trained up doing medals and things rather than staright off on the currency itself. Although there's a very good chance he did some work on Victorian currency whilst he was at the Royal Mint. Although of course Morgan wouldn't have done either of the dies for that particular bun head penny because by 1882 he was in the States!
