Thee_Immortal_One
So I thought I would post this image showing the last six in the date as out of alignment. The following post would show the obverse with a MM mintmark.
Thee_Immortal_One
I scan the obverse and plan to post. But then I see something and checkout Brekke. And yes it is an under coin.
Thee_Immortal_One
I add a little highlighting and the undercoin is visible. Just goes to show you, a second look at old acquisitions can be surprizing.
squirrel
Its quite fun finding the underlying coins details camoflaged behind the overstrike. Sometimes you can find more than one coin under there! Here are some of my examples of Katherine II 5 Kopeks, all overstruck on a 1762 10 Kopek, which themselves were all overstruck over 5K's of Elizabeth Petrovna, 1758-62. squirrel
Yup... ive got the overstruck copper bug. I had to compress the image down to fit the 100k speed limit on file size, but theres actually a lot more detail, especially the 1788 MM. In the right light angle , you can read the entire legend. sigistenz
tails. Hi Josh, your 4th coin, the one with the "1762" across, what is the final date? From the picture it seems to be 1767? Nice coins!! Thank you for showing. Sigi
